Johns Hopkins Accelerated Summer Entry for BSN/MSN 2014

Hi everyone! As the early and regular decision deadlines for the Hopkins accelerated programs approach, I thought I would start a new thread for this year. It seems like it's been a pretty useful source of support for prior applicants during this grueling process :)

Hi Everyone! I am new to allnurses and wanted to say hello and good luck!! I have also applied to direct entry programs for 2014 and I am anxiously waiting to hear back. I applied regular admission to JHU fall ABSN/MSN...I figure we have at least another month to wait, so I am distracting myself with prereqs :) It is starting to get REAL!! I received an invitation to interview at Duke, and I am not sure if I can afford to make the journey across the country, while still waiting to hear back from the other schools I applied. The timing thing is driving me nuts!!

did you get an interview already or still waiting for one?

Still waiting...I haven't heard anything from JHU since submitting my application. Is everyone offered an interview/ wait listed? Is anyone else regular decision for Fall ABSN/MSN?

Hi Aria - I haven't heard a thing, either, and I applied regular decision summer BS/MSN. I noticed that my application online was flagged as complete just 2.5 weeks ago (not sure why - everything was in by the Dec. 1 deadline), so I'm wondering if my app has been moved from the summer to fall pool. No idea...I'm also trying to distract myself with one final prereq, work, and family...

how does your application show as "flagged?" because my application was completed on 1/13 but I submitted everything by Dec. 1 deadline.

I emailed the admissions about this and they said they will still look at my application just like all the other applicants.

Complete means that they have received and compiled everything (transcripts, application, references, etc). Transcripts could have been delayed because they get so many each day and it takes awhile to organize and process them. I applied ED and my status did not show complete until two weeks later. This won't effect your application whatsoever as long as it was postmarked before Dec 1.

As for everyone anxiously waiting to hear back about acceptance, be prepared for it to be March 1 or possibly later. Early decision applicants were supposed to hear back by December 15 and many of us did not get calls until a week later. Just hang right and be patient because that's all you really can do - they are swamped with applications and interviews!

Perhaps "flagged" was the wrong word. I just meant that my app status is now "complete" online. Sorry for any confusion!

For FNP specialty, does anyone know if they interview all the qualified applicants or do some students just get accepted without going through interviews? thanks!

Hi all! Congrats to those who have been admitted! I applied regular decision for summer entry BS/MSN for the FNP track. I submitted my application in early December. Any else out there hear anything from the school? Besides confirming my application was received, I haven't heard much from the school since December and it's already February. Do we know when they will contact us about potential interviews? When are final decisions made? Thanks in advance!

newmy123, how did you hear from the school your application was received? Just the email saying they look forward to reviewing your application? That is all I have heard, and I applied regular decision to the summer ABSN

I got an interview! I applied regular decision to the summer start BS-MSN and heard from JHU a few days ago. I'll be interviewing close to the end of the month.

The admissions office said that they're looking to release final decisions in early March.

did they schedule the interview towards the end of the month? If they did and the results come out in March, then I'm guessing chances are slim for those of us who still didn't hear back by now. :(
