Johns Hopkins Accelerated Summer Entry for BSN/MSN 2014

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi everyone! As the early and regular decision deadlines for the Hopkins accelerated programs approach, I thought I would start a new thread for this year. It seems like it's been a pretty useful source of support for prior applicants during this grueling process :)

Hi Everyone! Congrats! wanted to let you all know that I have declined for fall ABSN, so I hope this opens up a spot for someone on the waitlist. Best of luck!

Hi! For those that already have attended the March Accepted Students Day, did you have to wear business attire? Os is it completely casual?

Casual is fine. Some people wore jeans and a nice top.

Hey everyone. Just found out a few days ago I'll be joining the summer ABSN cohort! Not much time to make a trans-continental move and figure out how I'm supposed to pay for this, but I sense that's in keeping with a theme. Those of you who are looking for housing: How's the JHMI off-campus housing service?

Hi fellow nurses/nursing students, I am a graduate degree applicant but decided to post in this thread since its so active. I recently applied for admission in their MSN program. Sadly I got a denial letter after four months of waiting and a year long process. I was highly dissappointed as I my application met majority of what they were looking for. Needless to say my interview went really well too. So i called and wrote them an email wanting to get some insight regarding reason for the denial along with why I thought the program was best fit for me (which I already had mentioned in my essay). So do anyone of you has ever known of a nursing school ever change their initial decison? Thanks kacy.

Specializes in Telemetry.

I am also posting in this thread since it is so active.

Has anyone completed a faculty phone interview? Just wondering what to expect. I have applied to the dual degree track; Clinical Nurse Specialist/Health Systems Management to start Fall 2014. I am having a hard time finding any other individuals applying for this MSN dual degree.

Just looking for some insight and I appreciate your time and feedback.

hi jenn00346,

i was accepted to the ABSN-MSN CNS 1/ paid clinical residency program for Fall 2014.

The interview for CNS, i got a list of questions they were going to ask at the time they wanted to schedule the interview.

The interview questions were more about making sure you understand what CNS does, why you want to be a CNS, evaluating yourself, etc. I heard from my peers that the MSN NP programs didn't have the questions beforehand and were asked questions like the difference between a PA and nurses. I wasn't asked anything like that in the CNS interview, and if you did your research and know you want to be a CNS (after understanding their role), you should be fine ;)

I was accepted for the BSN and MSN programs. Does anyone know if it's possible to defer entrance only to the master's portion and complete the BS somewhere else without reapplying. I assume this would not be an option since they count on a certain enrollment for the bachelor's program, but am very interested if anyone else have information on this. Thank you!
