I will go ahead and start this post for people applying to Jeff State Nursing Program Fall 2010. I know there are people out there with questions...I know I have a ton myself...I guess we can start with the amounts of points people are applying with with what classes??This should give us an idea of maybe where the cutoff will be...it was like 186 for Summer 2010!

The p&e is good but I never used the website you will be to busy to even look at it as far as the blog goes you don't need it you will be on the black board all the time it will become your best friend and learn those cranial nerves it will make health assessment easier

Thanks I will make sure to go over the cranial nerves! I figured that we would be entirely too busy for the website that's what I heard from some others. So I will definitely be sticking with the physical books and of course blackboard, Thanks!!

the math package im talking about is just the stapled packet that we got in our orientation packet - it has a take home quiz that will not be graded, just some problems for us to try when we have time. it's kind of fun. im about halfway through - it's not hard, just basic formulas and conversions.
Well, nothing of the kind was in my packet. I am in the night/weekend program, I wonder if that makes a difference.

Sliver - if this wasn't in your packet, I would go to the nursing office and ask for it. It should have been in there whether you're in N/W or days. Even if it's not supposed to be in there (and I can't imagine as it was my understanding that all packets were supposed to be the same), it will be of help to you to work those practice problems. The packet is about 30-40 pages stapled together in the materials we received Monday. Hope this helps!

Well, you would think the packets would be the same but I didn't see anyone sitting around me with anything above what I had. Hmmmm..... Thanks for the info!

Subject change. I hope someone can answer this question. I am intrested in going to jeff state for nursing, however I work full time and night. Is it possible to attend while working at night and going to school fulltime during the day with clinicals. I will have all core/basic courses completed by summer 2011 only nursing will be left. Are the clinicals assigned or are you given shifts to choose from to help fit your schedule.

I haven't started yet, I start nursing classes this fall. But, from what they said at orientation they set up options for clinicals and you sign up for your days of choice. It doesn't sound like they assign you specific dates and times. But you may not always get what you want so you might have to work with your options. And the last semester has the most clinical hours. Hope that helps.

I am just finishing second semester as we speak. You do not sign up for clinincals, they are randomly assigned. Most start at 6:55 AM and finish up around 2pm. The only way to get ahead is read. Know pretty much every box of info in Potter and Perry. The program is hard. I would not do it again. I think only about 5 students are passing out of the 47 we started with at the beggining of 2nd semester. I study 15-20 hrs+ per week which is less than most. Forget working, it really can't be done. I am not trying to discourage you but if you have options to go elsewhere, go. I am not disgruntled, I like the professors, I have learned a lot and I AM one of the people passing right now. Keep in mind 1st semester they break you. Spirit and otherwise. I haven't really decided why. They schedule everything randomly and at the last minute. I think it is to teach you flexibility which is required as an RN. Good Luck. BTW: The math is easy but unfortunately it does not count as a grade so no help there.

Does anyone know if the books are in yet? Also does anyone know when you can start charging to financial aid? Thanks!

I went in the bookstore yesterday and there were still no books. I'm not sure about the charging to financial aid.

I called the book store (on Monday) on campus and they said they wouldn't have books before the first week of August. SO maybe they will have books next week.... Now, I also called Snoozy's and they said they hoped to have the bundle in Thursday or Friday. (today or tomorrow.) The guy was super nice and told me to call back before I drove over there and he would be more than happy to check on the books for me. I am off work at 1 and I plan to call as soon as I'm off. If they have the books I'm going to go from work to get them.

So I checked and no books....now they are saying middle of next week.
