Jeff State Fall 2010 hopefuls...

Published

I will go ahead and start this post for people applying to Jeff State Nursing Program Fall 2010. I know there are people out there with questions...I know I have a ton myself...I guess we can start with the amounts of points people are applying with with what classes??This should give us an idea of maybe where the cutoff will be...it was like 186 for Summer 2010!

Me too I'm sure all of the million questions floating around in our heads will certainly be answered on Monday. Its so much i want to go ahead and purchase but i'm not real sure yet. I did purchase the Dosage calculation and Medical terminology book to start getting some practice. I'm curious how financial aid is gonna work out...but we shall see.

I called FA yesterday and they said it will be the same as usuall and picking up your checks as usuall... depending on how much you get, which also run the same as usuall

Got to love those firemen!! I am married to fireman and one of the men on his shift teaches healthcare provider CPR and he said he will come to my house to do the certification. I was on the phone calling him the second after I read my letter. When they didn't answer the phone I called the school to see exactly when I had to have my card. Yes, I admit...I was in a panic. LOL. I have since worked out my certification....luckily I don't have to rush it in before Monday! I also called the book store to ask about the nursing bundles and they said they don't have fall books in yet and I should call back in a few weeks. I was hoping they had things in place. I really wanted to get my books. *sigh*

I know how that is, I am married to a police officer and I was getting him ready to call up his buddies at the FD for me to get my certification and then I decided to call the school as well about the CPR... their phones must be ringing off the hook about the CPR ceritification... lol

can you tell me what books you purchaed? (authors, editions and so forth)

Please and Thank you!

just had a load of kids get here and more on the way for a swim party today. I will get that list to you just as soon as I can... sorry, it'll prolly be sometime this afternoon.

for anyone interested i spoke with my physician yesterday and he had me to get a copy of immunization record at the county health dept before i get a titer and i believe he may be trying to save me some money because he said and the lady at the health dept said that judging by my recor that the only titer i MAY have to have if any is the chicken pox, however she keyed in the date that i had the chicken pox( i honestly dont know how i ever remembered it) so i may not have to have it they also said that for me the hep. titer wouldnt be nescessary considering i am 28 and that i have never had a reason to take it so maybe some of you could check into that if it helps.......also i see where the registration starts monday the 19th...does the school register us and if awarded financial aid does it auto kick in??? anyone??

Thanks for the info Dana!

Too funny!! Great minds think alike haha!! I knew I couldn't get it before Monday so I called the school. They were very nice to me and admitted that the wording needed to be changed because people always panic. I still have things set up to do CPR with the guy on my husbands shift. He is willing to do it on my schedule which is really nice of him. So I will have my certification very soon.....

As for the books, where did you get yours? How did you find out for sure what we needed? When I called the book store (campus and snoozys) both told me they didn't even know what the teachers would be using this fall and they wouldn't have books for "several" more weeks. I really wanted my books, especialy the medical terminology book so I could get going on that.

It would have been nice to get them a little early...It would only make it easier but it doesn't seem to be an option....as for the physical and titers...its a heck of a lot better to get revaccinated if your insurance covers it...a few shots but no worse than getting blood drawn at the expense of $150-$200 in a lot of cases...as for the physical...she read the sheet off to me today and I asked a friend who is second semester about it...the lady read it off to me as basically immunizations and your doc has to sign it that you're ok to go to nursing school...and that is basically what the second semester student said as well...so getting a full blood panel and all that stuff might not be necessary...so no one needs to sweat all that junk...if we put our heads together we can all find the easiest and cheapest way to do this...haha

just so you know the titers have to be within the last five years

I just finished my vaccines today!I'm done with getting needles in the arm!yay!

Is everyone superstoked about tomorrow? It's getting crunch time folks.. YAY!!!
