Jeff State Fall 2010 hopefuls...

Published

I will go ahead and start this post for people applying to Jeff State Nursing Program Fall 2010. I know there are people out there with questions...I know I have a ton myself...I guess we can start with the amounts of points people are applying with with what classes??This should give us an idea of maybe where the cutoff will be...it was like 186 for Summer 2010!

Yeah, me too!! I called because it said bring your CPR card with you and I don't have mine yet. Turns out they don't really mean that. They mean bring it if you have it but if you don't it's OK. LOL. I didn't hammer her with all the other questions I have. haha. They must answer a lot of your questions during the orientation as the letter says it lasts about 2 hours. I am ready to get it over with.

Me too I'm sure all of the million questions floating around in our heads will certainly be answered on Monday. Its so much i want to go ahead and purchase but i'm not real sure yet. I did purchase the Dosage calculation and Medical terminology book to start getting some practice. I'm curious how financial aid is gonna work out...but we shall see.

I'm in too! Funny: Like maybe some of you - within one minute of reading the letter, I was on the internet at Google typing "CPR certification Birmingham AL".....................within 2 minutes of opening the letter I had found a fireman at Irondale Fire Station #2's website offering one-on-one classes with little or short notice.....................within 3 minutes of opening the letter I had reserved a spot with him tomorrow at 4:00pm...................................within 6 minutes of opening the letter I stopped and decided I must CHILL, called B. Self to accept, and asked really casually "so, by the way, has anyone called about the CPR certification that's mentioned........." Her answer was to laugh and go "IF I HAD A NICKEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

We will all laugh about all this some day.

Lol!!! Yes we will!!!!

I got accepted too with 190 points to the part-time program. BUT, I'm probaby going to give up my spot--it's a timing thing w/my personal life right now. SO, maybe that will open up a spot for someone else. She told me 90 people were accepted for the part-time program when she called me last week. That's a lot of people!!!!

Wow!! That is a lot of people.

Lynn and everyone else asking about Healthcare provider CPR certification- Hoover Fire Dept's website has Healthcare Provider CPR training where you take the test online from American Heart Assoc. and pass the it with 80%...then you schedule the skills training (takes 30 mins max) with Hoover Fire Dept station 7 on a Saturday..take the little printed certificate saying you passed andthey will walk you through the skills and thats it...if you don't live or work in Hoover it will cost like $15 maybe?...that is what I did about a month ago and I am just waiting to get my card in the mail...

Got to love those firemen!! I am married to fireman and one of the men on his shift teaches healthcare provider CPR and he said he will come to my house to do the certification. I was on the phone calling him the second after I read my letter. When they didn't answer the phone I called the school to see exactly when I had to have my card. Yes, I admit...I was in a panic. LOL. I have since worked out my certification....luckily I don't have to rush it in before Monday! I also called the book store to ask about the nursing bundles and they said they don't have fall books in yet and I should call back in a few weeks. I was hoping they had things in place. I really wanted to get my books. *sigh*

does anyone know exactly what time on July 19 registration will begin?

you guys should wait before spending the money you don't have to get a physical its just a paper that the doc signs that says there is no reason you cant be in the program i didnt even have to make an appt. my doc just signed it

Well that's a relief...I'm still good to cancel my physical...so we just have to get a piece of paper signed that says we can be a nurse?

I already bought my books for this upcoming semester from a friend and I checked with the administrator before buying them and she said that the books would be the same as last fall. I think for the most parts it's working on proportions

can you tell me what books you purchaed? (authors, editions and so forth)

Please and Thank you!
