Hello all! Anyone else out there applying for the Scott and White Internships in Temple?
Man, I moved to Wichita Falls, that was my first Uhaul experience, ugh. Now I have to go from Wichita Falls, to Temple, 278 miles...awesome haha. I'm SOOOO excited! Today is my last day of work, and it couldn't be going any greater. I'm so thankful for this ER exp, I am so ready to hit the ground running. I know I'm going to be this annoying NEW grad haha. Asking all these questions, feeling like an idiot, but oh well. haha. I graduate in 7 days!!! When are yall going to do the preemployment screening, taking your badge pic etc, I'm going Jan 9 at 10am. Happy Holidays!
Hey Pretty - I will be commuting from Round Rock. It's about 45 minute drive but not much traffic so it shouldn't be too bad. I will also be one of those annoying new grads. I'm going on Dec. 28th to do my pre-employment screening. Everything seems to be happening so fast. It's really exciting. I hope you like living in Temple. It will be nice being so close to the hospital.
I actually wanted to move to Round Rock, but my parents just werent too keen on me doing that commute with my son, and traffic blah blah.. I don't mind the drive, but whatever. I got a REALLY nice apt, so we will see. I wish I knew someone in the ER internship. Do you happen to know any. One of my classmates got into the OR internship, but thats it.
The ER interns, as well as the PACU interns took classes with us. I guess because we're all really considered critical care. Class was once a week and it's full days with classroom time and hands-on skills labs. We also had homework. At the end, there's 3 tests that need to be passed before getting off the internship. But, don't fret about it now. You have plenty of time to get prepared.
Not sure how many people they accepted this cohort. Last ER cohort was about 20 (maybe?). There were 33 of us in the ICU (largest ICU class ever). And as far as I know, all adult floors wear navy. Navy pants and the top has to be atleast 50% Navy. But, for any holiday and for the month of December, you can wear holiday scrubs.
WOW. I love it. I was wondering why the tops were navy with like designs or something I seen people in. That makes me giddy!!! Lol. And yes, I'm excited about the homework and class time. I'm a nerd. I am ready to hit the ground running. This is my NUMBER ONE choice of unit. I only applied to ER, even though they gave us the 3 choices. Thank you so much lovely. Do you have any other advice advice! How was your scheduling done, I know it will probably be different in the Er, just looking for a ballpark type thing.
