Hello all! Anyone else out there applying for the Scott and White Internships in Temple?
I am from the Mesquite Forney area. It's a smaller town, but those are the only ones close that people might know of. I am faxing over my lease info tomrw for my apartment. I'm excited. Do you have kids... I am looking for Sunday care in case I have to work Sundays. The daycare I found is right by SW, and its open 430am-Midnight, M-S, so that covers me until then. They seem really nice and flexible, so maybe I can just get away with not working Sundays, but I guess we will cross that bridge when we get there. Did you do your clinicals at SW. How was your interview structured. At least I get to meet someone, I cant find anyone in the ER internship...
My internship starts Jan 16 along with all others. I will fall into nicu/ picu classes im sure. Yes i did all of my clinicals at Scott and White while in school and it was great. I have 2 kids ages 17 yrs and 11 yrs old. My hubby is in Afghanistan right now and has been gone over a year. I used to work in Mesquite and that area has grown so much since last time I was there. If you have any questions or need anything please let me know ok. I have classmates that got into last er internship as well as knowing others that work thete as well. You will love the people there !!!
Yes, Mesquite is HUGE now, much bigger than it was when I was growing up. In the last ER cohort, how many did they accept. The last SW threads were BOOMING with people, this one seems so dead. I was hoping, I could make a few friends so when orientation started, I would at least have someone to talk to haha. Just me and the kiddo, moving to the Temple area with NOBODY haha, but its okay..it'll work out. What can you tell me about the ER internships, from what your friends have told you.
Well I know they took alot less people for this cohort. We had quite a few apply for internships and nearly all got into them that applied. I think at least 3 applied for er and I know of one that did not get it. I was told its challenging and pretty much like being in nursing school again. They had class time with exams along with clinical time on the floors. All of the internships are supposed to be great but the specialty ones of course are a bit harder. I commend you on the move by the way and this must be scary along with exciting for you. I hope this helped some.
Yes, it did help me. I'm use to the moving. My little boy was 7 months old, and I moved to Wichita Falls with him for nursing school, been here for 2 years, now I'm moving 2.5 hours from home in the OTHER direction haha. I'm excited. Faxing all the info for my apt tomrw, paying deposit, and app fees. I have to hurry because this one is on the first floor which is what I need, available on the 28th.. my lease now in my apt is up on the 31st. Mom doesnt want to move the stuff from WF, then drop off in Dallas, then get another truck then move to Temple, she just wants to do one straight drive haha. I'm packing now as we speak..well not tonight, I was tired haha. So 3 people applied in your class. Man, I feel so blessed to have gotten it. I almost didnt apply to SW because I decided I wanted to stay in Dallas, but God made some moves and told me to do it. I only had 2 interviews out of all the places I applied, and SW was one. I'm glad I applied. I applied and interviewed at Parkland for their ER Residency, didnt hear anything, at first I was bummed, but now I'm not. I had SUCH a better experience at SW! I interviewed on the last day, and was called the next day. I'm soo thankful. I'm glad for the classroom portion, I need that. I hope me being a tech in the ER for the past year has gotten some of the kinks out so hopefully this will be a smooth transition. How did your friends find out they didnt make it..did they call them.. Are you excited about your internship!! Congrats again!!! I know the RNs wear navy, but are they allowed to have some type trim color.. I'm getting ready to order some.
