January OBLC Army Nurse Corps

Published

Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone here is supposed to attend OBLC this upcoming January (2009). Not 100% at this point whether I will be or not, but figured it wouldn't hurt to start trying to make some contacts. My commissioning package was supposed to meet the board in August but I guess there were some fixes that needed to be made so I was placed on the back burner. Was told that my package is supposed to be before the board today though and should hear back by next week (pretty exited right now). My wife is currently active duty AF Nurse Corps, but is in the final stage of securing an interservice transfer to the Army Nurse Corps and we both hope to attend the January OBLC class.

Hope to hear from some of our future classmates soon.

Well, I am hoping to go in March. Still waiting to hear from the board meeting this month. I am really enjoying and greatly appreciate all of the tips and information that is being shared by those who have gone before. Please keep it coming!

Hey runnin mom,

I think you said you were going to oblc in April. I know that this is unusual, but how do we get off this forum and email each other so as not everyone can read everything. I have some private questions that i need answered and it seems that we have a lot in common. I'm 44 and have never been in any branch of the service. I need some advice that I can't share with every one. Please don't anyone take this wrong. I love talking to all of you and reading and learning. It is just family matters that I am embarressed about for everyone to know. Thanks so much. Just in a bad place right now.

Hey 2soldiers,

My wife and I know the feeling with the lost paperwork. Seemed like every couple of weeks one of us was being called back in for something we had already filled out... very frustrating. I even had to do two physicals. 9 months prior I had done a physical for the AF Nurse Corps, but when I began the Army application the AF claimed they could not locate my physical results (actually it was my entire package they said they could not locate). I think "losing things" is the status quo.

I agree Forwaters,

The military has already lost my son's birth cert. and high school diploma. More important, he had a hand injury during basic at Fort Jackson and low and behold, no records of his surgery. I told him to fight for that one so if anything happens because of the injury, he will be compensated. (Another soldier injured him 3 weeks into boot camp).

My worry is that I have to do my physical at Walter Reed and thats about a four hour drive from my house. As you can imagine, no one has that extra time while trying to work full time. ( I actually have one full time job and two part time ones so like everyone time is very valuable. But definitely worth it since this is what I dream of doing.

Best of luck to you and your wife. Take care and be safe.

2Soldiers,

You're right, your son definitely needs to push for the records from his BMT injury. You never know what the future will bring, if he ends up with some sort of exacerbation from the injury once he leaves the military he will need those records for any sort of recourse.

Good luck you guys/gals! I wish I were going with you!

For anyone who cares ;) I am still around.... working hard in school, and waiting for my time to come...keep up the great posts, as we all enjoy reading them and the information in them...even if we do not always post so often anymore....(busy, busy, busy)
