  1. Markisrn You are still young!! Glad you came back !! Sounds like we need people like you!
  2. Hello again markisrn, I was just com. Feb. 28th as 1Lt. , recieved orders late March to report to unit in PA first weekend in May. (Started this whole process late Nov.) Didn't go to first drill since same day as youngest sons prom and already had out of town plans for that weekend. They were very understanding so next and my first drill weekend will be July 11th. This site is wonderful because I have already been in contact with two fellow R.N. s from the same unit who were just recently commissioned also. After 20 plus years of nursing I never went back to get my BSN and MRN but plan to once I'm in reserves. I know it sounds odd to do it that way and most people do the strap program but I was more interested in joining first due to my age and then go back to school since all the kids are out of the nest. Just hope they need me over there soon. I'm putting in for overseas deployment but was told I had to go to OBC in November first. But you never know!!! Best of luck with school since I can't wait to start that too!!! P.S. How the pics turn out???
  3. A great big congrats markisrn!!!!!!!!!!! I wish now that I had a picture or two of my swearing in. Happened so fast didn't think of it. Only hubbie home and didn't get one. I forget but do you know where you will be stationed at?
  4. P.S. Anyone else sched. for November??
  5. Thanks BunkyRN for the info. As of now I am sched to go to OBLC in November. Hope that it is still in the works and it doesn't change. Has anyone heard about a phase I class that must be taken prior to going to OBLC ? It was mentioned during my inprocessing but he was unsure of details. I guess it is something new. And Chocokitten, could you please post your suggestions on the packing list? I was hoping to rent a car once I got there for two reasons. Mine already has almost 100 thousand miles on it and I live in PA. Very long drive. Thanks again for all the ideas and support. Good luck to all!
  6. Hi momofabmtcs, Sorry to miss you in July but hopefully you can help me out for August. Please keep me posted on how OBC turns out. Right now trying to get back into shape--- lots of busy family matters that killed my workout sched for two months! At my age thats a year setback! Good luck at OBC and please keep in touch!!
  7. k gelbeko FNP, Good luck future Capt. I will pray that all works out well and soon. Hang in there because good things happen to good people!!
  8. Thank you all so very much!!!!! I went to clothing store in Oakdale (Linda is excellent) and found most of what I needed. I did inprocessing and all the paperwork back in April so I'm o.k. with that too. Good to get it out of the way! Talked to my recruiter and she verified 8A can be done at unit and she said she would help with the paperwork if necessary. Just reinforced my initial thought that she is looking out for me. Very much looking forward to next step in my career! And I have also heard many good things about the people and unit. Counting the days!! Once again, thank you all for your support and service!! I'm looking forward to broadening my nursing experiences and joining the military family!
  9. Thank you so much jeckrn! I am assigned to the 339th Combat Support Hospital in Coraopolis,PA. My first sched day to report is July 11th and I'm very nervous about what to expect and what to do initially. Also, thanks for telling me my recruiter did the right thing. I do trust her but I also know that she has a quota to fill so I just wanted to make sure. Do I get the skill assessment sheet once I'm at my unit? Once again, I have found some wonderfully helpful people on this site!!!! Many thanks to all who have or are serving !!
  10. Thanks for the info deemo21, But now another question please. My recruiter told me that she put me in as a 66H just to make sure I was accepted into reserves. But I really want 66H8A since I have 24 years of critical care nursing background. Is it possible to change now that I have already been comm. as 1st Lt.? I e-mailed my recruiter but sometimes it takes awhile for her to answer. Not only that, but sometimes I get better info from this site. Oh, by the way, anyone out there going to OBC in Nov.? As of now I was told that only three people are assigned to that class?! If so, I'm sure that they will cancel it and change to Jan. Has anyone heard about a new phase one class before OBC? Things change so fast that it is hard to keep up!! Thanks to everyone and God bless on your journey!
  11. waiting 28, congrats, when do you go to Obc
  12. Hello deemo21, I was wondering if you could tell me the difference between 66H,HM6, and 66H8A. My recruiter set me up as a 66H and said it was to make sure that I got in (age waiver accepted for res. in Feb. of this year.) Also, I have heard that they have filled the quota for nurses.
  13. Hey Armynurse2bsoon!!!!! Great big congrats!!!!!! Hooah!Hooah! So happy for you!!!
  14. Hi Edie, Talked to my recruiter about a week ago or maybe more, and she said that everything looked good and will go to Feb. board. I missed the January one because she was out of town. No big deal as long it gets submitted in Feb. I think she said it was the 10th of Feb. How long does it take before you find out you are accepted? Hope everything is well. Let me know what you are up to. Also, anyone out there know a good web site for military prints? I found one done by a woman who lost her son in Iraq and they were really nice but not what I was looking for. God bless and best of luck to all in our journey!
