Hello everyone!
I'm new to this form as I am trying to get into January 2014's intake in Practical Nursing!
I am pretty nervous since I'm not sure if I will make it this year since I did graduate high school 4 years ago but I did do a victory lap for a year in upgrading my chemistry mark with additional mathematics courses. However in the end I didn't actually go to pursue the science field in University instead I went for a BA in Psychology.
For Practical nursing I have applied to: Sheridan College, George Brown, and Centennial College (Flex); I have already done my HOAE test at Sheridan College as it is an admission requirement for Sheridan, however I was told I wouldn't get my test scores! This is so nerve wrecking!
Also, as I am asking for advice here, I was just wondering if anyone give me some advice/let me know the chances of getting into this program with the following high school marks: 12U English - 70, 12U Chemistry - 89, 12U Adv. Functions- 78, 12U Data Management - 95, 12U Calculus - 88, 11U Bio - 71, 12U Philosophy - 77. GPA in University was a 3.7. I know my high school marks aren't the greatest at all, but any advice/opinion will help relief my stress!
Also anyone here applying for Practical Nursing for January intake :)?
Thank you everyone :)!
Hey Jer.t,
I did the pre-health program at George Brown, because I did not take my sciences in high school. I finished with a 3.5 gpa (Mostly A's and some B's.) B's in math and Physics
I checked with my other friends who applied and said they have no status change either. So I am sure they are just going the applications :) I don't know if it matters but my last name does start with A, and in most cases where they do things alphabetically, I usually hear things first.
Hopefully you will get some good news soon :)
Hii vwgirl55
That is an amazing GPA for a pre-health program. How was your experience at George Brown? Just asking you since you went there before. Is George Brown your first choice?
I guess I will just have to wait until Oct since my last name starts with a T
Thank you, congrat once again =)
Aww Thank you Jer.t, I worked my butt off last semester. But I loved it! I really enjoyed pre-health. I believe this program reassured me that I really want to be a nurse. We went to a cadaver lab with our Anatomy class, and I was worried how I would be around the bodies and the organs, but I was fine. George Brown is my first choice. my goal is to bridge after the RPN program. But thats all down the road.
I hope you get in, keep us posted as you hear from your schools :)
vwgirl55,
Finding what you want to be and pursing that goal is always the best feeling a person can experience. I am glad to hear that you decided that you want to become a nurse through the pre-health program. That is also my goal too (after being wait-listed for September for collaborative program for BScN) but time will come and it's the matter of fact whether I change my mind or not since I may just enjoy staying as a RPN or bridge to RN. I am assuming many are gearing more towards Centennial Bridging program with Ryerson (as it is a many individual's choices).
Regarding bodies, organs and blood, we will just have to overcome our fears, not saying I not afraid of seeing organs =)
Thank you, I am waiting for George Brown as I am still not sure whether I want to go to Georgian or George Brown(if I get admittance)
Hey Jer.t,
I am really excited for everyone who has decided to pursue nursing. My plan is to bridge through either the Centennial or George Brown program. I really hope you hear back from George Brown, along with everyone else on this forum.
Did you also apply to Georgian for RPN? I have a friend who applied to their BScN program for Jan 2014, apparently they accepted the pre-health certificate for the science and math credits. Most BScN programs wanted high school credits, but I guess Georgian is the exception.
Hopefully you will hear back soon about George Brown. OCAS is down over the week-end but maybe Monday they will have some news for everyone :)
Hi vwgirl55,
I never knew George Brown had a bridging program, but after searching up I found out they did. Thank you, I hope we all do soon =)
Yes I did apply to Georgian for RPN, but not for the BScN not because I didn't want to, but when I applied it was already "waitlisted" I applied late I guess compared to others. Yes Georgian the collaborative program, BScN does accept any college preparatory courses! A lot of people didn't know and I believe Seneca is the same thing from what I heard since both are collab with York U.
Thank you, I hope so too as I don't want to waste another semester since I graduated this year back in June but I didn't make any backup plans since I was dead-set on for programs which I was wait-listed for which is pretty bad mistake. Thanks for the heads up and I do hope everyone hear back soon =)
Hello All,YAY!!!!! My George Brown Stu-view status has changed to final offer and I have to confirm by Oct 11th. My OCAS has not been updated yet.. I am soo excited.... I hope you guys all get in.

Congratulations vwgirl55! That is great news!
I hope the rest of us see our status change shortly. I checked mine this morning (I wasn't able to on Friday) and there hasn't been an update as of yet, but I will for sure post once it does.
