Psych nurse action figure ?
herring wrote an Extremely Entertaining Fiction Story, "Eating Yourself", using Consenting Members' names, that's in a Thread in the Breakroom:
"Eating Yourself"; fiction story with AN user names | allnurses
I was responding to a Thread on Suicide here in the Psychiatric Nursing Forum when herring's Story came to mind.
About 30 years ago, a Frequent Flyer was admitted to the Psych Unit. The Psychiatrist's Report read as Patient's Chief Complaint: "I think want to commit suicide. I think I want a Pepsi".
I Kid you not.
Well, one Thought led to another- you know: Eating Yourself, Suicide, Soft Drinks...
I had to work with a BYT (Bratty Young Tech) this past week on the Adult Psych unit. While the other Nurse and I did Admissions, passed PRNs, cleaned and made beds, along with the other Duties that come with being a Nurse, this BYT sat in the Hall, made Rounds and played Computer Games. At One Time, a Psychotic Patient was Loud. The BYT told the Patient to "Quiet down!" When the Patient went on their Psychotic Way, the BYT threw their hands into the air and Proclaimed, "I've had it with these patients!" The other Nurse offered the Psychotic Patient some Comfort Foods and I was able to get the Previously Non-Med Compliant Patient to take some Zyprexa and Vistaril. The Patient thereafter returned to bed and to Sleep. I heard through the Grapevine that the BYT complained that the other Nurse and I never relieved them from their Duties in order to take a Break. "A break from what?" I enquired. "A break from doing nothing?" Alas: "With these oxen we must plow."
