Psych nurse action figure ?
I take exception to your book suggestion. Far'wyn is , like me, addicted to being a Happy Idiot, not to "Unhappiness."Geesh!
Oh, please don't take me wrong, No Stars, for I include myself as one who is addicted to unhappiness, in a Conceptual sense.
Conceptually let's call it "Attracted to Negative Attention".
We often receive Negative Attention by being "in trouble again".Hey, so I'm in trouble again, huh?
Farawyn's question caused me to recall my own Behavior and the Negative Attention I have received.
The basis of the Addicted to Unhappiness Theory stems from the Response our Primary Caregivers , the First People outside of Ourselves who we loved, showed us Attention . However our Primary Caregivers responded to our needs, the method in which they gave us attention, is how we, as Infants, interpreted Love!
Case in Point: My Parents often gave me attention because I was a Mischievous, or "Bad" Little Dude!
Often times, at Dinnertime, my Mom would make the same Enquiry to my Dad:
Unhappiness? Not me. I'm trying to shun that kinda stuff. I'm just havin' a good time.I'm an open hearted gal, JRRNPNAF!
Unhappiness, Trouble, and Problems are viewed as Negative Situations. Negative Situations can often inspire Action, resulting in Positive Outcomes.
Addicted to Unhappiness is slated toward Individuals who are repeatedly drawn into Negative Situations in making Major Life Choices, Theoretically, to work through Unresolved Issues. Perceived Expectations can Cloud one's Vision, or Goal, which is a Resolution of our Issues with a subsequent Higher Level of Consciousness and Understanding.
That Higher Level of Consciousness and Understanding is one of the "Gifts", as Richard Bach phrased it in his wonderful book, Illusions!
Here' a Copy of a Post and a Link to the Thread that mentions the Real People behind some Characters in this Thread!
Sunday night, right after the evening shift had left, several situations occurred almost simultaneously:A psychotic Patient attacked me and I put him into therapeutic hold. Across the hall, an ex-Police Officer Patient diagnosed with Dementia heard the ruckus and attempted to come to my aid, incontinent of bowel and bladder, slipping and falling. Meanwhile, a naked psychotic Patient with Huntington's chorea was running rampant on the Unit, urinating on the floor. Another Patient with Dementia recovering from a week old hip fracture surgery who had recently fallen twice, on a 1:1, was attempting to climb out of bed, yelling at the Caregiver, "Get out of my face!"
Once again, my wonderful Peers and Co-Workers were a Godsend!
If you've familiar with the Jacob Rockstar-RN Psych Nurse Action Figure thread, you know a some of them.
Eleanor contacted the MD, informed him of the situation, got orders for the therapeutic hold, a chemical restraint, and administered the IM. Jacob Rockstar-RN was the only staff member besides Security to respond to the Code Green. Jacob assessed the fall Patient, assisted him into a wheelchair, provided hygienic measures, and put him back to bed. The third Staff Member, a Nurse Extern, let's call him Mork (Not From Ork), assisted me in dealing with the Naked Patient, spelled Eleanor from the 1:1 so she could help me deal with the physically aggressive Patient, and fulfilled his regular duties of Riding Herd on the Other Patients.
The multiple interventions were carried out professionally and gracefully!
This is the second time in two weeks I've had to send a Letter to the Unit Supervisor and Behavioral Health Director commending my Co-Workers and Peers.
Sissybee and Belinda were included in last week's Letter when we dealt with a Patient diagnosed with Schizophrenia who was suffering from impacted bowels, hydronephrosis, anuria, and a distended bladder!
