I'm about to get weird here, so bare with me, and to any I offend, I apologize.

As an atheist who rather strictly believes in science, I feel believers in an after life and/or creator God do have a leg up on us (me) when it comes to comforts through tragedy. I've had times when I've felt deep hurt over something and actually thought.... I do wish I had belief in something that, outside myself, will help me get through this. When I see what comfort religion can bring to a person, and recognize the beauty in that, it makes me a bit introspective with the hope of finding something outside simply me to help me through.

One of these days, maybe.

Raised Catholic, but not practicing. I do believe in God, most days.

What comforts me is people. There is heinous stuff in this world, mostly because of other people, but we have to take credit for some of the good stuff, too. This board has been an amazing sense of comfort to me lately, and it's because of yawl.
