Ivy Tech Thread

I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

I just went up to Lawrence and got my books and stethoscope and all that. Can I just say......DANG!! That was a heavy box!!!!!

I got all the optional books and stuff too, and here goes little ole me, lugging all this crap across the parking lot. I was gonna go to the gym today but I got my workout in already. LOL

In Terre Haute they are telling us at the bookstore that there is some kind of problem and not all financial aid is posted at the bookstore yet. Wouldn't you know it.....I am one that is not posted. Now it's try back in the middle of the week! They have sure run into major problems this year getting things posted and processed.

This "new" system stinks. I guess it'll just take a little time to work out the kinks. I just hope it doesn't hurt anyone with the change over and not getting their stuff paid for in time.

Still no word on my student loan.....I just applied a week or so ago though, so I don't know how long it usually takes.

I applied for my student loan three possibly four weeks ago and still nothing. Went to school today and the f.a. receptionist said it is pending. NOWHERE on Campus Connect does it even state it is pending. She told me hopefully by the end of the week it would be ready to be accepted. The bookstore told me once you click on accept loan it is 24 hours before your money is available at the bookstore. So maybe Monday. :banghead:

Good Lord I wanna tell em I will volunteer my time to help them get it all straightened out. :)

My sister is just applying for her student loan today. What do you think the chances are it will be processed in time for her to get her books BEFORE class starts? Naysayer says not likely. :(

Went in today to the Valpo campus to get my student loans straightened out and its all good now, however the bookstores computer doesnt update until tonight so I cannot get my books until tomarrow or the next day. I also found out that they have changed the criminal background requirement (after I already paid 17 for the other one.). This now is a 77.00 package through certified background that includes a background check and drug screen. I guess Ill have to go to that tree in my backyard and pick some more money!!!!

Hey, I just read that you were or completed in the part-time program at Logan. Is it a transition program or is it just an ASN program. I am a LPN and graduated from Kokomo Ivy Tech in 2004. I was hoping to try the transition program but would really like to do a evening transition if possible. Just thought I would ask since I saw that you went to logan.

Thanks, B8arocks

Yeah, I called the bookstore today and of course my info wasn't posted yet...he said hopefully by Wednesday. This is ridiculous. And I can't even buy anything online!! I am going to be super mad if I can't get my distance ed books by the time classes start...the only way I can pay for them is with my FA. Plus my IVY 105 class through Lawrenceburg doesn't even have the information posted yet!

I finally got the email to do the entrance counseling (once again) for my loans, and of course in the middle of the quiz thing the site stops working. AUUUGHGHHH.

I start the traditional ASN 8/25 it is a brand new program. It is straight to ASN part time. This will be the first time for it. They started the transition program last year. I do not know if they offer it part time.

I believe there is a girl on here that has just finished the transition this summer at Logan. She drove from in Indy.

I think her name was Lori.

They also offer transition at Wabash, I'm not sure if either are part-time. Are you in Kokomo?

I am in Kokomo. I am not working as a nurse right now because I am an Machine Repair Apprentice at Delphi. I like it but things are tough at Delphi. I hope I can at least get through school and get my journeyman card. If not I always have the nursing to fall back on. I plan on getting back into nursing when my children are a bit older. We have five so we are always busy with them. At Delphi it is nice because I work from 6:24 to 2:54. They can't make me work weekends, nights, or holidays, unless I choose to.

Anyways, I would love to get my RN at some point. I just need to figure out I can fit it into my schedule.

Where do you live?

I applied for my loan the very first day we could apply. In fact, I think I was the first one to turn in my paper and I still haven't heard anything! I've called and gone into financial aid and the lady told me they haven't even start processing them yet. I asked if she could give me an estimate of how long it would be and all she could tell me was that she hoped it would be before the first day of classes.

Well, I get dropped from my classes if they aren't paid and we have assignments due the first day that require the textbook, which I can't get without the loan. I hate Ivy Tech.

Surely they will not drop us from classes if they arent paid for on time. Especially if they know we have applied for a loan.

They may try to charge a late fee. LOL.

I had taken out a student loan for summer (had 2 classes). The 112 class I was enrolled in was a bit much for the summer, especially since I would be gone for one week. That would mean a seven week class. Dummy me, I should have known(but didnt). Dropped the 112, got a notice from SallieMae saying my loan had been cancelled. Went into the bursar's said I needed to find out how much I owe, etc etc...She informed me that there would be a late charge due to my fees not being paid for on time. Mind you I hadnt even gotten a notice from them that my loan was cancelled, a bill or anything.

So much of every task that must be completed at Ivy T brings great aggravation.

What campus do you attend Rock?

I just finished Logan transition, it was a full time day program. I do not know if they are planning to offer it part time evenings, but you should call the campus and talk to the nursing office to find out for sure.

They were in the process of making program changes and expansions, so anything is possible.

Good Luck!
