  1. Can anyone tell me the starting pay for new RN grads at hospitals in the Memphis area?
  2. mkmm47 replied to t.hope's topic in Indiana Nursing
Definately go for the RN. It is only one more semester than the LPN. If you transition to RN after getting the LPN, it is 3 semesters just to transition.
  3. After being out of school for 34 years, I took 12 semester hours at first. I believe the second semester was 9, and then 6...had to stretch out to wait for the grant help.
  4. I liked it better online than going to campus! You did have to go to campus for tests and the one time big lab. The other labs were virtual online from your home computer. The final was on all the at home labs.
  5. I worked full time and did all prereq's online...except advanced physiology (not available online), it is possible. As for being accepted with a c in one of the core 4...I don't believe so. I was accepted at Terre Haute and it was way to competitive to get a C. Just retake it. Good luck.
  6. I finally got the books yesterday.....my thoughts exactly...uh oh!
  7. I did get it. It is the Frank O'Bannon Grant. The school automatically submits an application for you if you qualify for FAFSA. It is not posted until almost a month after school starts. Since it can only be used for tuition and books with no refund for excess, the school applies it to that even though they already applied the federal grant to it (they credit the federal balance), then they will refund to you what is left over from the federal.
  8. I took every pre-req online except advanced physiology which was not offered online. I took all of them through the Terre Haute campus. Did not find any of them intimidating. You just have to be very self-disciplined and basically teach yourself!
  9. Financial aid finally got posted today after calling two days in a row and last week. I didn't even get an email telling me to accept....I surfed the sight and found unsatisfied requirements. When I clicked on it, it was accepting the award. I did price books for Terre Haute campus...they were just a little over $700. according to online bookstore. When I went into the book store last week, I think they were a bit higher though.
  10. Do not ever feel bad about getting financial aid. Think of it this way. You have worked for many years...or will in the future. Part of the taxes you pay will repay that aid. I am 55 and going through school now because I am tired of living paycheck to paycheck. I have supported two children on my own for many years and still am. The ONLY thing I ever complained about was when grown people that were able to work and were on social security for stupid reasons. THEY supposedly cannot work, but can go to bars and drink every night, sleep till whenever, and run around and socialize all day. I am at work EVERY day helping to support them too. They are not trying to help themselves. It is about time I got a refund on all my taxes.
  11. I will be full time in school and still have to work. Car payments, insurance, etc still go on. I will have to move in with somebody though to help cut they housing expense!
  12. I haven't had mine posted. I called financial aid and they have no idea why. They informed me they have to email the main branch. When you applied, on the sar it should have your efc. Just call financial aid and tell them what your efc is and they can tell you how much you will get.
  13. It cost me $125. for two scrub tops, one lab coat, and the 2 sets of patches to put on the sleeves.....and it was just standard sizes. You got away with $70.?
  14. I know what you mean. I have paid for everything but the tuition and the books. They said we can't use financial aid to pay for the books until after the 4th of August. We had to order the scrubs from a company and pay TOP dollar out of our pocket. I paid for mine back in June. When I called the company to ask where they were, they said Ivy Tech told them not to ship them until October! Ivy Tech didn't pay for them.......I did.
  15. I am not sure what you mean by challenging into the program. I did email the program director about transferring and she told me there are almost never any transfer openings. Could you explain what challenging is?
