I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?
I was going to go up there yesterday but called before I made the trip to the north side. They said the nursing bundles still are not in, and they should have them by the end of this week.
I wish they would get their stories straight before they go telling students things like this. She didn't even sound unsure about it. Last week they told me we can chare our FA today...I would have been peeved had I driven all the way up there with the kids for nothing. They really need to get their stuff together and soon.

Ivy tech sems to be really disorganized this year. The new FA procedure seems to have gunked up alot of things.

I should go by there on Monday and see...if I could find someone very near campus, then that would really help me out! I am very hesitant about doing ANP online...but if I have to I will. This woman I want to go with has impressed me so much and my gut is telling me to go with her...and if I put off ANP this semester it will screw my whole plan up which sucks. I could actually use her about 3 days a week for classes...it just depends on how much she charges...And since when did COM 101 and 102 have ENG 111 as a pre req?? I was thinking about maybe taking that instead but the course description says ENG 111 is a pre req.
I would be careful about taking anything online. The way I have decided on my online classes is that if I already know what I am doing in the class, then it is okay to take it online, as it will be more or less a refresher course. If it is something directly related to Nursing and it is something that I don't know forward and backwards, then an online is out of the question and I need to take it face-to-face. The online classes I took had a higher than average dropout rate, poor academic contributions by many students, and I felt- had a larger than normal homework and essay load than if I had taken the class face-to-face.
Your experience might vary, but not having someone to ask questions to regarding important and directly profession related subjects, leaves me feeling like I am short changing myself in the long run, and the few hours saved over the course of the class wil be made up by more mistakes and a slower learning curve down the line. If you don't have a firm foundation with your core classes, then your whole educational structure will be shakey.

I'm a bit aggravated today.
I thought the only thing I had left before school started was to buy books. I got a letter today saying one of the clinical sites has changed their requirements. Now I have to get an alcohol screen ( already had the drug panel done) and get a driving history check. MORE MONEY
I know in the big scheme of things it's minor, but like most of you money is really tight and of course their is no relief in sight for a few more weeks when disbursements are sent. It is just beginning to feel like "it's always gotta be something"
I guess I might be getting cranky waiting for this to start all ready!!!

Unfortunately I don't have the monetary resources nor the time to take multiple classroom classes. I just received an A in my psychology class online, I am pretty confident about my online classes this coming semester. I am still taking ANP at lawrence. I think everyone has different experiences with online classes, and after this last class I feel good about doing online again. Thanks though :)

I had a great experience taking my classes online. I took everything except ANP I and II online. I don't understand why you think you can't ask questions. There are discussion boards just like the one you are on now! And you can always email the professor, and even other students, if you have questions about something. I got a lot out of my classes, but I guess you get out what you put in. I've always been an A student, and I didn't expect anything less in my online classes.

So why did you not take ANP I/II online?T
It wasn't offered online in SB. You still have to go in a few Saturdays for labs, so even though it is technically online, you still have to live nearby the campus it's offered through.
I'm glad I took that one on campus though. It gave me a taste of what on campus nursing school classes will be like, and I met some people that may end up being in nursing school with me. And, I have a great reference now in my former Anatomy professor! But I really enjoyed my online classes.

Well, I went to Lawrence today to grab a couple books and stopped by FA, the girl there said it was just a waiting game but when I got home I miraculously had the ability to finally accept my loans, so maybe she worked some magic for me. I completed my entrance counseling so hopefully the ball is rolling a little faster now!! BTW anyone taking ANP 101 this semester @ Lawrence?

Well I at least have good news...I physically went into financial aid today and the lady who helped me was awesome. She posted my FA on CC right away, so now it shows up.
I think I am going to just buy most of my books used...off of classifieds or something. This is absolutely ridiculous!! Way to wait until the last minute to change super important stuff around! I wonder what teachers will do if half of their students don't have books for class...
