I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?
Even though I will eventually have to take Comm 101 for BSN, I'm glad I took 102 because like I said it is all skills that everyone should possess especially nurses.
Which school makes you take Speech instead of Comm for your BSN? Just wondering because I have the BSN requirements for every school in IN printed out and all of them take either/or. You also mention a bridge program, and if you're talking about Frontier, they don't require speech either! Just want to know, because I plan to keep going (most likely at Frontier), and I have 102 instead of 101.
Thanks,
Kate

Ok I promise last course question!! I have had to find new daycare...and I have ANP at Lawrence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays...well the daycares I like are on the way west side closer to my work...meaning after all round trips, on Tuesdays I would be driving 100 miles along...almost 1/2 a gas tank.
I am really thinking to switching it to online, has anyone taken it online? How did you like it? I wouldn't even mind doing a hybrid where I had to go to campus once or twice (that's easier than every week!). I just don't really have anything to switch with it, and the only GOOD daycares I have found are near Avon.
Kgle....I don't know anything about this person, but on the second floor of Lawrence campus on one or two of the bulletin boards in the halls there is a daycare flyer. I know it says minutes from campus, and I think it's just by the hour (like she does it for people in your situation)...alot of the little phone number tabs have been pulled off, so maybe someone on here has used her. Just a suggestion. Good luck to you, I know how hard it can be for daycare!
I should go by there on Monday and see...if I could find someone very near campus, then that would really help me out! I am very hesitant about doing ANP online...but if I have to I will. This woman I want to go with has impressed me so much and my gut is telling me to go with her...and if I put off ANP this semester it will screw my whole plan up which sucks. I could actually use her about 3 days a week for classes...it just depends on how much she charges...
And since when did COM 101 and 102 have ENG 111 as a pre req?? I was thinking about maybe taking that instead but the course description says ENG 111 is a pre req.
I took ANP 101 at the Bloomington campus and loved it. I got over 100% in the class.
I just finished 102 online through Terre Haute and it was a pretty miserable summer.
The new layout of the online class is 2 at home, non proctored exams, a midterm and final exam that are both proctored. The final exam is cumulative, and if you don't score at least 65% you fail the class and receive an F on your transcript. You have discussion boards weekly, and labs to do at home weekly. Most of the labs were on the computer and they were actually pretty neat. You are supposed to buy the fetal pig lab kit and do some labs with it, though I never opened mine. I squeaked an A by an extremely small margin, but only because everything except the midterm and final are open book. I really struggled with teaching myself everything this semester, and I would never ever take it online again. Nearly half of the class had dropped by the end of the semester. I don't feel like I really learned very much at all. I kind of feel cheated by the semester.
This financial aid stuff is really stressing me out now. I went in and filled out the loan form on Monday 7/28 and was told it would only take a couple of days to hear back. I haven't heard anything and there is nothing on CC. I was talking to the woman at the financial aid office and she kept telling me I could only get $3500 for both semesters even though I'm in my second year but then proceeded to tell me she really had no clue. I'd love to talk to someone at Ivy Tech that knew WTH they were talking about, for once!
Good luck in finding anyone at Ivy Tech that know anything about financial aid right now.
We were supposed to be able to use our financial aid at the bookstore today, so I went down there, and not only have they not figured out their system, but we cannot use our financial aid there yet...and just let me quote her...."It was our goal to be able to do the financial aid, G-O-A-L, goal"...yesss, she actually SPELLED IT OUT!
(ohhh AND, they have next to NO books, no nursing bundles, don't know when they are getting them, and the HOPE to be able to accept the financial aid in the bookstore by 2 or 3 DAYS before school starts!!) who wants to make bets that they only ordered half the nursing bundles they need?
Can you tell I'm a little past peeved????????

Nope in Indy at NMC and Lawrence both. Let me know how it goes! I am pretty sure I will be adding that to my schedule for the spring semester...that and ANP 102.
