Ivy Tech Thread

Published

I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

kgle......you are soooo lucky!!!! Love Mr. Evans, really! :heartbeat:redpinkhe:heartbeat He explains well, has a very 'cute' sense of humor, and is a bit of a stickler when it comes to noises, leaving early, etc. (which is really nice) He's just all around great, my favorite teacher EVER! :p

Haha that's awesome! I heard bad things about Mr. Noe...so that's good that he explains well, I need that!

To a PP, I received an email on campus connect telling me my requirements were unsatisfied, so when you get that you just go into your financial aid portion I believe and check on student requirements and do what it tells you to do.

Has anyone ever heard of this? Someone that I know said they are graduating from IVY Tech Lafayette PN program in December of 2008 and will be a RN in the sring of 2009. Is this possible?

Maybe they misspoke or are just don't know the difference between PN and RN?

They can finish their program in December and take the boards and be an LPN. RN (I believe) is another year of schooling/clinicals.

Maybe they meant they would begin the transition to RN program the spring of 2009.

But, that would depend on how quickly they get licensed for their PN. You have to have a license to be accepted into the transition program.

Anyway, it would take a minimum of another year of nursing courses, even if they had all their co reqs done.

Those of you who have their books.

Have you started reading yet?

I want to, but I'm afraid if I start reading they will skip around and I will not have done myself any good.

I wish we could have our syllabus early.

Hey gymmom what kind of stethoscope did you get?

yeah, I started on Pharm because I heard it was the hardest. Chapter 3 is the worst so far...only 6 pages long, but I've been workin on it for 2 days! I hope we need to know it! :stone(It seems we would have to)

HI!! Just to let you guys know.....teachers will post their syllabi on blackboard a several days before school starts...so really, anytime. You will be printing A LOT, so be sure to stock up on printer ink. The teachers post most everything on blackboard--they don't hand much out in class. This includes powerpoints, notes, syllabus, study guides, etc. You will also be doing a couple of discussion boards, so it is a good idea to get in the habit of checking blackboard daily.

It is a good idea to start the reading for Pharm. Pharm is taken in best if you don't do it in huge chunks....do a couple pages at a time and let it soak in. Come back to it and do some more. Even if you are at work and only have 15 minutes...read a little Pharm. You will get powerpoints to go with the chapters. In order to pass the tests, you WILL have to read the book.

Another book to start looking through is the atlas. You will study almost everything in that book in medsurg.

Good luck to everyone as you start your wonderful journey! :nurse:

Are any of you working while doing the RN program? I have no choice. I'll be working 25 hours a week plus school. I'm scared and need some encouragement. I know I can do it but it's going to be insane. I have bills and student loans aren't an option besides Stafford.

I was trying to decide between the lightweight and classic. I would love to have the cardiology, but there is no way I can afford one right now.

what color did you get? and where did you get yours?

I was thinking of ordering from allherart.

Rock, I am going to contiune to work. I work 32.5 hrs on the weekends and Monday midnights. It's considered full time so I get benefits.

My nursing program is PT but I am going to school full time so I'm worried too. But I also have no choice. So I understand exactly how you feel.

On another note...I found out yesterday that I am going to have my gall bladder removed on 9/16. Please pray that they are able to do the Lap, I have no reason to think they won't be able to, but I'm worried I will have to miss class if they have to do open surgery. I have surgery on Tuesday then back to school on Thursday. I have talked to several people who said the lap was no big deal and they were up and moving around in a couple of days.

If I wasn't in so much pain I would wait, but if anyone has ever had a gall bladder attack, they can attest to how awful it is.

Anyway, I'll be accepting all good vibes you want to send my way. LOL!

Colt, that is funny because I went ahead and started reading pharm too. You are right the 3rd chapter is def. harder than the other two. I'm going to read it over again tonight.

I then flipped through every chapter.WOW! is all I can say!
