hello all! i'm new to this site and am impressed by all the valuable info available here! im currently taking prereqs at ivy tech sellersburg (south central indiana close to louisville ky). i am quite nervous about how competitive it is to enter the nursing programs at ivy tech in general. i havent noticed anyone currently going to ivy tech sellersburg as i have been browsing. congradulations to all of you starting the program soon! any tips on navigating the prereqs will be appreciated lol

Wish- Good luck with the surgury I hope you dont have to miss too much!!!

I got the ciel blue color. And my b/p cuff has monkeys all over it. My 10 yr. old picked it out. I dont think I could work and do this program right now, I am just too stressed out with all the s*** that has been going on here, its almost like someone doesnt want me to do this. But my daughter is a gymnast, which is like a job in itself just taking her to the gym and to meets on the weekends. We spend alot of time in Indy and down south. Well good luck all and we'll cross our fingers wish every thing goes nice, quick and easy!!!:yeah:

Good luck on the surgery! Hopefully it all goes smooth and you don't have to miss anything.

Side note: Did we have to have a BP cuff at Indy? I didn't notice if so, so I need to get one!

I got my stethoscope at the IT Bookstore. I got a Littmann lightweight and it was 50 bucks. I was able to charge it to my financial aid.

I have started reading the Pharm also. Seems like a LOT of memorization but I'm trying not to freak about it.

My advice is to buy a BP cuff to practice with. I bought mine in the IT bookstore. You will have to practice and record vital signs for an upcoming assignment. Another reason to buy your own cuff is because the ones at school (indy) are BAD. They really all need replaced. The instructors will let you use your own cuff during the vital signs check off that will take place before you can move on to your clinical site. :redbeathe

Awesome...thanks for the heads up!!!

Dannelboo....can you tell us if we need to memorize all of the assessments and interventions for toxic effects of drugs in chapter 3, for pharm? If so, I'd loveeee to have that done before school starts! Thanks!

Did my loan counseling Wed. evening. Stillll waiting to be able to click accept loan, wait 24 hours, and get my books.

Those of you who already have yours, I am soooo jealous. :(

This surely is a lesson in patience.

I feel so out of the loop haha since all of you are already accepted and I am still doing pre reqs! I'll tell ya though, I will be hounding all of you for the same advice when I start the ASN program!

Found out today why my other class wasn't showing up on the online bookstore...seems only me and one other person signed up for the class! So they dropped it...luckily its only 1 credit, which still keeps me at full time, but one less class! So for most of the semester I will only be taking 3 at once instead of four, so I can't complain. Oh well, I will save it for next semester!

Wishn- good luck on your surgery! I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Colt, what book are you guys using for pharm?

I'm thinking we may have different books.

My chapter 3 is on bioterriorism. Does not sound like what you and Dannelboo are discussing.

My book is Pharmacology for nurses a pathophysiologic approach 2nd ed.

hee hee...yep it's a different book, Focus on Nursing Pharmacology 4e.

Bioterrorism??? Wouldn't think that be in the front of the book, the author must be a little paranoid.
