I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?
Oh Man. I have a feeling the reading is going to be impossible to keep up with. For next week in Pharm alone, we are doing Chapters 1-4 and 6.I wonder what the reading for the other classes will be like!!
Here are some pointers for Indy students:
Don't sit down and try to get through 4 chapters at a time in Pharm....do a little at a time. Also, pay close attention to the little focus boxes in the chapters. You will see test questions from there. Really, the first test wasn't that difficult, the second one was harder, then the last ones were easier. The teacher gave us three opportunities for extra credit too. I recommend either printing out the powerpoints before each class to take notes on, or take a laptop. Pay attention to what the teacher repeats....because she does that for a reason. :loveya:
As for Med-surg.....honestly, I didn't read much because there was just no way. Even the teacher knows it is nearly impossible. You have seen the book, right? Again, pay attention to bold print, focus boxes, and diagrams in the chapters. I suggest forming a study group for both classes as soon as possible. It was a great help for me.
Good luck everyone!!
I picked up the Pharm book for a little bit but decided not to spend too much time because I didn't know for sure what we would need for the first week. I didn't want to study the wrong stuff. I've been reading mostly out of the Fundamentals book. I was surprised to find it an easy read, and actually interesting for a text book.
I have tossed around the idea of a study group, but I've always found that study groups are a huge distraction for me because they tend to go off topic quite a bit. I'll have to see what the people in class are like before I know if that's something that will work for me or not.
Thanks for the pointers!! And yeah.....that Med Surg book is massive!

I understand what you mean about study groups. It can really work if you keep the group fairly small and have those in the group who really want to study. Even a study partner works well.
The Fundamentals book is a good book, but the teacher skips around it a lot. Your lab quizzes (which are done online) are over the assigned chapters in the blue Fundamentals book. Not too bad, really.
