Ivy Tech Thread

I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

gymmom...a quote from dorrie

just keep swimmin, swimmin, swimmin...just keep swimmin

it'll be here and gone in a flash, and you (and I, and all the rest of us) will make it through with flying colors!!!

gymmom I am sorry to hear that things have not been going well at home. There are so many things that can pull our focus in a different direction. Let these situations propel you towards your dream instead of away from it. I'm praying for you.

:anpom:When the going gets tough, the tough get going!:anpom:

I am currently attending Ivy T in Anderson. I love to log in here and see everyones enthusiasm and excitement. Makes me that much more determined and excited.

I do have a couple of questions. I have yet to attend the required nursing informational meeting. I am sure they answer the ones I am getting ready to ask but am curious before it gets here. About a year ago they told me you just have to have completed two of the pre-reqs to apply. That I needed to apply ASAPPP. Has this changed? I can't remember my other question right now. Will have to ask later.

I am attending my second semester currently. Last semester and this one I have had to take 044 and 050. I took ENG 111 last semester and got an A. In the fall I am taking ANP 101 and PSY 101. I am looking forward to taking some classes that seem like they actually correlate with my planned degree.

Wow, what a long one. Just wanted to thank all of you for being such a close knit community and giving me extra motivation to go for it.

:yeah:

At Columbus and I believe all Ivy Tech schools you have to have completed ANP 1 & 2, intro to psych, Eng 111, and take the TEAS test. Good luck to you. It can be a roller coaster ride.

Specializes in MICU - CCRN, IR, Vascular Surgery.

You also need to attend a nursing informational meeting at every campus that you're applying to. So if you were apping to Columbus, Bloomington, and Indy, you'd have to go to three different info sessions.

We have to order our scrubs from The Uniform House, green pants (with NO side pockets...I don't know how I'll survive!!) a white scrub shirt that has to be embroidered and a white lab coat (that I am pretty sure is made from a cardboard/sandpaper blend:p) We have to pay for them when we order them and it takes 10-14 days to get them. Shoes have to be ALL WHITE...no color at all! and don't forget, tennis shoes squeak on hospital floors!

As far as the schedule, T/0830-1550 ~ W/0800-1050 ~R/0830-1020 ~ F/0830-1420 ...that is until Sept 29, then the only thing that changes is we start a clinical on F/0645-1530

When you are buying a stethoscope make sure that it doesn't have "double tubing"...I don't know how else to say that, but I got one of those for CNA class and they are sooooo heavy after a couple hours...get the Littman Lightweight!!

Holy crap!! That is a long clinical. I think if Muncie's schedule is anything like that, I won't have a problem working and going to school. I hope, I hope, I hope!! I'll find out tomorrow I guess.

I just had to post and let ya all know how excited I am! I just found out that my husbands work clinic gives all the immunizations and stuff for free!!At least theres one good thing about him.... I go next friday and get them all. :D

Hey everyone. I am posting to ask a question regarding teas scores. I am appplying in september to start in january at Gary or Valpo. My grades are all A's, 3 points for region, and an 84 on teas, which brings me to 207/223. I am retaking the teas next week for a higher score. My question is what kind of scores got you guys into the program. I am so nervous and I worked so hard. Thanks in advance.:o

You dont need to retake your teas. I got in to valpo with 3 A's 1 b and a 90 on the teas which gave me 203 points. And a friend of mine got in also at Valpo with only 193 points. You will be fine, dont waste the money on doing it again. And also the head lady at valpo said that this was one of the highest scoring class of applicants in a long time. So dont stress out you should be good!!!!:twocents:

You made me feel so much better. I have been in butterflies since at the Gary campus we had an anatomy professor who was giving away A's to all his students, while I was working so hard for mine. When I took my teas, the man told me alot of people were getting good grades. I hope I get in. I am closer to the Gary campus, but I might just stick with Valpo because alot of the Gary staff have been rude:no:. Thanks for the info.

I did most of my pre-reqs at gary also, and chose valpo for the same reason. Ive just heard alot of horror stories!!!!!!

Well, I had orientation for the Muncie RN program. They didn't seem to know the exact schedule and it made me feel uneasy. Anyway, my stress level just sky rocketed. I hate money!!!!

Anywho, our schedule is as follows:

First 5 weeks are

Monday and Wednesday - 8:00-5:00 p.m.

Thursday and Friday - Half Day - either 8:00 - 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 - 4:30 p.m.

6th week until the end of the semester is
