Ivy Tech Thread

I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

As far as Muncie region there is only one semester difference but LPN goes straight through. Fall, spring, and summer. ASN takes summers off, so it is fall, spring, fall, spring. So essentially instead of finishing in Summer 10 with LPN, ASN will finish Spring 11.

I didnt know they took time into account until today. You know how Ivy T works though. Sometimes what one faculty member tells you is not the same answer you get from another.

I am not trying to make anyone upset. I was just trying to pass on the info I have been given and heard to help everyone else out.

LPN is only one semester shorter than ASN...

Don't forget all of the co-reqs. It takes a while to complete all of them. If you want to complete them before starting the nursing program, it will be longer before you can even start.

The LPN program is 3 semesters. I wasn't talking about the pre and co reqs. I believe that most students get all of their co reqs out of the way before even applying to the program.

I don't understand how they could judge any of us by when we turn in our apps. They are due 4/1, period...Who is recording dates/times? How is that a basis for competitive admission? That shouldn't have anything to do with readiness/worthiness for the program.

I agree...if its THAT competitive then they start looking at other things such as grades and TEAS scores...I have never heard that its by the date.

Yeah I've not heard of that either. In any case, I'm glad I turned mine in a few weeks ago! :D

maybe it is if ppl are tied. like if 2 ppl have the same scores, same pre-reqs done, same GPA, same co-reqs done etc...EVERYTHING the same..then perhaps they go by that. but I would imagine it doesn't happen very often.

IndyIvy is correct. We were told the date of application would be used in case of a tie (points).

Thanks IndyIvy. That is what I was trying to convey but guess I didnt get it put out there right. :yeah:

Okay, so we are talking about an absolute tie, as in if there are no other criteria to compare because of similarities (i.e. first points, then GPA, raw TEAS scores, etc), then they would use the time? Because at our info session they said they look at raw TEAS scores in the case of a tie? I mean the chance that date/time would come into play would be very rare, right?? This is freaking me out. I can't turn mine in until Monday because that's when I'm taking my TEAS the third time...STRESS STRESS STRESS!!!!!

Thanks IndyIvy. That is what I was trying to convey but guess I didnt get it put out there right. :yeah:

BTW just wanted to clarify that my earlier post was not meant to be a stab at you in any way!! I hope you didn't feel that way. I was just a little freaked out to find out something like that so close to the deadine, esp because here in Indy I haven't heard anything at all about that. Sorry if I seemed like an ass, I was just stressed about the info. Not directed at you!!

No, you're fine. I did not take any offense to it. It just baffles me that everyone's scores could come down that close to using app time to determine acceptance. It is strange how each campus tells their students different things. We were told gpa didnt play into selection at all. Must have at least a 2.0 to apply, but not a consideration in selection. They told us they base admittance on TEAS and Pre-req grades. Once again, maybe gpa is used to determine a tie.

Come on May!

I have heard that too about turning the app. in early, I never believed it. I guess there is some validity to it. I noticed when I turned my in the secretary did mark the date and time. I turned mine in on March 2nd, so that is good. A lot of people are still taking teas test in mid march so they will be turning theirs in late. I know several that are taking teas this week on spring break. Cutting it close.
