I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?
i've been wondering...for lab, do you have lab partners? if so, do you have one for the whole semester or school? i went to itt for electronics, and on the first day, you just kind of paired up randomly like musical chairs. the only thing is that there you kept the same partner for 2 years, like him or not. i really liked mine by the way, and we ended up working together on the job during school, although i don't have a clue now where he is.
for lab anp 101, i had two lab partners, (chosen because we were sitting next to each other). they weren't very committed to getting an a, and my grade suffered a little. one of them was going to be a mortician:no:, so didn't care about an a as much. anyway, my experience in the past has been that a good lab partner that is compatible is important. anybody care to share his or her thoughts or experience on this?
Ilovemywife, we had lab partners for Fundamentals lab. They pretty much just told us to find anyone to pair up with. We kept the same partner for all of Fundamentals. It really didn't matter if we stayed with the same person but we all got use to working with each other.
Oh yeah, even though you have a partner, you are graded individually. So, no worries. The other person will not affect your grade.
For Med. Surg. lab, we did not have partners. On days that we checked off, we would draw numbers to see who would go when.
Personally, I thought it was helpful having someone else to work with. Then again, my partner was awesome and we have now become really good friends. It's just nice to have someone there, other than an instructor, that will help you along the way.
We didn't have official partners. Everybody seemed to have a buddy that they stuck with, though. A lot of the time we worked in groups because there wasn't enough equipment for each pair to have their own. Of course, at checkoffs you were on your own.
The only student we lost was failed during a checkoff in Med/Surg 1 lab. She had 2 tries to draw up an injection and she had an air bubble both times. They failed her. Other people were given 3 or 4 tries until they got rid of the air bubble, but not her. Like I said, I think they already knew they would fail her. It was sad because her grades were impeccable. No one else studied near as much as she did. It just seemed like they didn't care for her.
Ugh first day of 102 today...I have J.R. for lecture and lab...its driving me crazy already. He skips around SO much and of course its nothing like 101. No powerpoints on BB or podcasts or anything. He doesn't even use the projector in class (although he did for like the last 20 minutes). Anyone have any advice on surviving 102?
My best advice for 102 is to utilize the computer lab and open labs. Dr. D. does the best open lab and he's likely the only reason I pulled an A in that class. The computers in the ANP lab have practice tests on there that are very similar to the actual test. All the slides from lab are in there as well. Good luck!

Dang, Jackson! It must vary from campus to campus. Our lab was intimidating because they watched everything we did but if we made a mistake, they gave us an opportunity to correct it before they would. We hardly ever lost points when we did mess up. I never felt like our instructors were weeding us out either. We were all treated equally, even the ones who were constantly late and causing a ruckus. You can pretty much tell who's going to make it and who's not but the instructors would still give them a chance, regardless.
I am glad to hear that the semesters are easier. I did not think the first semester was bad at all but I heard OB/Peds was more difficult, but I'll see for myself I guess.
