Ivy Tech Thread

I beefed up my summer course load and plan to take MAT 118, COM 102, and IVY 104, all online. Anyone else taking these?

It takes an 82 to get a B in 102. Right??? Anyway, they tell you that you need straight A's to get in. Imagining a B would squeak in, figuring a C would not.

Maybe I will just scrap school and be the elephant pooper scooper at the zoo. LOL.

I think it is an 80 for the B cutoff in prereqs. When you get into nursing classes it changes to 82 for the B cutoff, 92 for the A cutoff etc.

There is a girl in my nursing class who got all A's and one B and an 81 on her TEAS. We are in a partime RN program. I know there is another girl who also got 1 B, not sure what her TEAS score was. But she was an alternate and got in when someone dropped out right before orientation.

Good luck, Think positive!!!

I'm so glad this semester is almost over, I still have to make it through Micro on Saturday then I'll be completely done!!! Yay!

That is kinda weird. Maybe it is a regional thing. It says Grading Scale:

92-100 A

82-91 B

72-81 C

62-71 D

He never gave us an actual point scale to know what we got. It was just the weighted percentage on Blackboard. I went into finals with an 86. Bombed both lab and lecture final and ended up with an 80.

He told us he would give us extra credit for going to the Bodies exhibit. He would never tell us how much e.c. he was going to give us and didnt add it in. Hopefully he will get my email and add it. I guess I am just so distraught cause I drive myself to the point of sickness obsessing about A's. Have straight A's in everything else.

Lawrence campus runs the RN program twice a year, right? Maybe I will have to try to join all of you there.

Usually, all science and nursing classes are on an 8 point grading scale. However, one of my English classes was also on the 8 point scale. Ours is actually

93-100 A

84-92 B

75-83 C

66-74 D

I think that's right. I just know we need a 75 to pass with a C. Once you get into the program, the whole getting A's thing will go right out the window. Our class moto is "C=RN."

See HLHS 101 is an 8 point grading scale (BOO) but APHY is not. At least 101 isn't. I wish they would use ONE grading scale and be done with it.

Are you talking about ANP 101? I can't remember if my ANP was the 8 pt scale but I know that 102 was, as well as Micro.

To everyone in the program-

We survived our first semester of nursing school!!! WOO! I'm excited for Maternity next semester. :yeah:

Hmm...maybe it is a regional thing. I'm in micro right now and it is the regular 10 pt scale.

90-100 A

80-89 B

70-79 C

60-69 D

I just looked at my syllabus to double check. I also double checked my ANP syllabi it was also the same. But, they were from Fall 07 and Spring 08. So that might have changed.

I don't know but, it is pretty interesting that the regions would have different grading scales for the same classes. It doesn't really seem fair to someone who went to school at one campus and got an A with a 90 and someone else got a B with a 91 and they both apply for the same slot and the person with the 90 A will get 30 pts, whereas the person with the 91 B gets only 20 pts.

Our instructor gave us what we are doing the first two weeks so I am going to read (leisurely) over break to try and get ahead a little bit. But not until after Christmas day. I plan on just relaxing A LOT!
