I was wondering if there would be interest in starting an Ivy Tech thread for those not in any program yet, for those still working on Pre-reqs.
I am taking anp102 in the fall in BLoomington, Tech writing online, plan on taking my Teas sometime soon. Going to apply to several campuses for the ASN program.
They have added Intro to Chem and changed the Math pre-reqs now for Ivy Tech ASN as of Fall 08. They are going to grandfather Math 111 for a few semesters supposedly.

Thanks! When I called tech support they told me type the log in/pw self serve for both? Am going to try what you said, too. THANKS!!!!
I hate to say it...but I have a real debby downer in my lab class at my table...she's nice and all- but all she does is complain about the teacher and practically tries to teach the class since she took the class before...we had originally tried to set up a study group and they want to meet this Friday...but I don't know that I want to go, and I also want to switch tables but I don't want to seem like a big B****! I just kept hearing all the talking during class today when I was trying to pay attention and it drove me NUTSO. She even said last week that the nursing program is dumb and she wouldn't waste her time with all those classes because nurses don't get paid THAT well...
AUUGHH!
But yay I got a 5 out of 5 on both quizzes today and we get to download slides next week. Melissa- if you haven't got it figured out by next week let me know and I can burn you a copy of my CD.
What a bummer about that person at your lab table. This is a challenging course and I think having a positive attitude is important to staying on top of things. A couple of the girls in my class (lecture) made some snarky comments to me about how they wish they had the time to be OCD like me (they noticed my book all tabbed and how i color code my notes and stuff). I didn't indulge it but I'm thinking, I MAKE time, I sacrifice other things so that I can do my very best because this is a big deal. I am so sick of people having nasty attitudes and being negative. I have to say I've been impressed with the resources available to us with the ANP classes and it seems they really do as much as possible to help us succeed, but at some point you have to take the initiative!! And kgle, I was able to get into the lab computers last night and put everything on my flash drive. Thanks to everyone here who helped!! I think I'm going to try and upload the slides the Walmart and print them as photos rather than print them on my printer and use all the color ink. They will probably look better on photo paper. Will let you know how it turns out. Hope everyone's having a great week!
Move seats....do NOT feel bad. you dont even have to give a reason. if you feel like you have to give a reason, just say you want to be closer to the teacher or you want to see the board better. dont stay in the same seat and miss out on something important because you dont want to be rude (which THEY are the ones being rude, not you)
we had a girl in our class that had taken the same class TWICE before. she tried to act like she knew it all but she obviously didnt know it all since she couldnt pass the class!!
we had ppl move seats last year and nobody said anything it at all.
Melissa- I do the same thing with my books. we want to be organized that is all. i would rather spend the 15 mins organizing my stuff then to spend the time it would take looking for stuff every time i open my book. it saves time if you ask me.
dont care about what ANYONE else thinks about you because the things you gals are doing are the reason you are going to get into the nursing program while the others will be retaking that class.
Great idea about printing the pics off @walmart!!
Melissa I think I may have to get some tips from you on color coding!
I can't help it...its just the kind of person I am I always feel bad. I did have to bring my glasses today so I could read the board, and the table I am moving to is closer so that's a good excuse :) I just don't have the patience to sit and listen to someone talk all throughout class when this is such an important class! Its like- I don't need someone to point out whats going to be on the test, I want to UNDERSTAND it because this isn't some fluff class, I will actually refer back to this in my career! Thanks girls! And thanks Melissa for the slides! I am off to check them out.
Melissa2012, just to add...instead of printing all of those pics off, I sent them to walmart.com and got them printed to make "flashcards" (ahead of time, so I could label them in class b/c the labels they have are different on the computers!!!!) also, dont memorize colors, test is b&w, which our instructor told us, so no one thinks Im cheating :chuckle I made up stupid things for the pics
(ie-hyaline cartilage-looks like baby googly eyes and you hang a baby high on a line) yesssssss, it's horrible, but we all remembered it!
also, elastic cartilage looks like carly wilson's elastic spandex pants (kinda tie-dyed lookin) (carly wilson was in a group in the early 90's) im old! lol
fibrocartilage looks like there are rows in the cartilage (looked like earth, from space)
just, the dumber, the better with analogies. I also took all the pics and put them on poster boards one weekend in 'categories'
getbodysmart.com for alot of other stuff!
