Ivy Tech Spring 2020 Hopefuls

Published

I know we still have some time but I imagine a majority of us are taking or have taken the TEAS and are getting ready to get ready for the Spring 2020 application period !! Just thought I could give us a spot to chat, I know I have used the older threads from other years to help me prepare as well!

I take my TEAS (first time) Monday! What is everyone else up to?!

I dont even know!! I know it varies by state and school but yeah I havent seen anyone say it costs less than $60 for them, but in that TEAS group I'm in some people are on their like 5th try. Which not bashing them for that but if I was on my 5th try it would be like 4 years from now lol

Oh! I didn't realize it was different elsewhere. That would get expensive.

I have heard that too by a couple people, but I'm still worried. The problem with me is that I'll be worried until I get a letter (good or bad). I did study on and off for about 2 or 3 weeks, but that was mainly to get refreshed a bit. I took my pre-reqs over 10 years ago, so I was too afraid to totally wing it!

Have you heard how long it is going to take to get your other classes to get transferred over? I went to school before to and my adviser said there was like a 6 month wait for transfer credits because they were so backed up. But that was like 6 months ago. So I didn't know if ivy tech was better about that now or not. I had already taken some of these classes to but decided just to take them again because I didn't want to wait 6 months to find out if my classes did or did not qualify for transfer.

And trust me guys, the only one who has a score to actually worry about is me. If you guys dont get in I will be shocked!

Try to stay positive! You never know what is going to happen! Everybody keeps telling me that Spring is less competitive!

Thanks! I dont necessarily feel over worried, I know my score has a 50/50 chance, and it doesnt REALLY matter since there is no rush for me to get in, minus my excitement to get started and be doing it, so I will feel okay either way but you all DEFINITELY do not have to worry ?

Well I'm not 100% sure. Some credits/classes have already transferred because I submitted my transcript originally in March (I think) or maybe the beginning of April and it only took about 6 weeks. The problem is that not all of them that were expected to transfer actually transferred. At that point, I talked with an advisor about it and found out that I need to be majoring in General Studies instead of Healthcare Specialist to get my credits to transfer correctly, so I switch my major and resubmitted my transcript for review. This all happened the middle of May. When I did all that, they told me it would be through by the end of May, because they were going to speed it up somehow. Now it's getting close to the end of June and it still hasn't showed any new changes on my Ivy Tech transcript. I'm sure they are all busy there, so I didn't try to push it and bug them about it right away, but this past Tuesday, I contacted the advisor who helped me last to see what's going on. She is currently looking into it, so I'm hoping I'll hear something by next week. Truthfully, the only thing I'm currently worried about is that my A&P class isn't showing up with a grade on my transcript and that's one of the classes I need points for to apply to the nursing program. At least my physiology and English showed up correctly. The rest of the classes (co-reqs) that haven't showed up have some more time before I start to panic about them. Sorry this was so long, but it's a lot to explain. ?

This is very exciting! I understand. I just want to get this started too! ☺️

No worries! Sounds like you got it in order! Glad you got them on the ball! Are you taking any classes this summer?

No, I'm not taking any classes this summer. The only 2 classes I need is math and the Ivy Tech class, so I'm registered to take them this fall. I'll be taking both online.
