Ivy Tech Spring 2020 Hopefuls

Published

I know we still have some time but I imagine a majority of us are taking or have taken the TEAS and are getting ready to get ready for the Spring 2020 application period !! Just thought I could give us a spot to chat, I know I have used the older threads from other years to help me prepare as well!

I take my TEAS (first time) Monday! What is everyone else up to?!

Hey guys,

That's an AMAZING score!!! You should feel very confident! Also curious where ypure applying to too ?

Thanks for the nice words everyone! I'm from Fort Wayne and am looking to get into the nursing program here. Hoping I'm competitive enough for our program!

Well heeeeey!! I am trying to get into fort Wayne as well, definitely not feeling AS confident but I will be okay, and re take psych and the TEAS should I not get in. For fall, I know everyone in the 130s were for SURE getting in so i would say you are set for spring then!!

Hi everyone! I just found this group. I am also a part of the nursing group on facebook. I am hoping to apply to the Anderson campus as it is the closest to my house. I took the TEAS a few weeks ago, but I did not get the score I was hoping for so I will be retaking it in a few weeks. Right now, my combined score is 116, which I do not think will be competitive enough. I am aiming to get at least 130, but I am in summer classes right now, which I was not planning on, so it makes it hard to study. I hope to be meeting some of you in person when we get accepted into the Spring program!

I just submitted my application for Spring 2020 in Indianapolis! I decided to take my TEAS right after completing Advanced Physiology so all my science knowledge was fairly fresh. I ended up getting a 90 overall and doing really well in science! Applying with 148 pts to the Indy/Lawrence campus- good luck everyone!

Hey!! I was hoping for a 130 too and although I did okay I'm only at 119 myself so I definitely understand your worry! Especially seeing all the scores here sometimes lol I wish you the best of luck on your second try!! I will be retaking if I dont get in this round, but I have seen some get in with a lower score than me so I wanted to try first!!

@Kotylynne- I liked Advanced Physiology myself. It picks up where APHY 101 and 102 left off, so it was kind of cool to brush up on some of the 101 concepts that I hadn't seen for awhile. It's pretty in depth too, so you end up touching on some of your chemistry knowledge too (cell-membrane transport, electro-chemical gradients, etc). I asked one of the professors if advanced physio or the microbiology would prepare me further on down the road, and he suggested advanced physiology. I recommend taking it with Dr. Burgess. He's actually a Chiropractor and seems to really know his stuff and how things work in the real world. He's fair and there are a couple opportunities for extra credit too. If you have to miss a test, he lets you make up one missed test at the end of the semester.

Oh I'm actually excited about that now!! I had no idea what to expect! I am the fort Wayne campus though, so I am signed up with Steele. I've had her twice for 101 (online) so I'm happy I at least will be prepared for her style of teaching, but so happy to hear a first hand experience of it and to see that it will be something i will really enjoy!!

Good luck to you @Kotylynne, here's hoping you get in to the spring semester! Thankfully seeing the replies reminded me the application was open today. Now the wait begins...

Hey! I am planning on applying to the Anderson campus too! Hope to see you there! I will probably apply in a couple weeks. They are having the first nursing information session on July 12th, so I was wanting to go to that first before I apply.
