Ivy Tech Spring 2020 Hopefuls

Published

I know we still have some time but I imagine a majority of us are taking or have taken the TEAS and are getting ready to get ready for the Spring 2020 application period !! Just thought I could give us a spot to chat, I know I have used the older threads from other years to help me prepare as well!

I take my TEAS (first time) Monday! What is everyone else up to?!

I'm taking Math 123 and POLS 101 (political science) this fall. I needed another 3 credit hour class to go with Math to be able to get financial aid and a technical certificate before next semester. I had too many credits transfer from Ball State and had an issue with maximum time frame.

Oh yikes! You wouldn't think having to many credits would be a bad thing! Math 123 was way easier than I thought it would be. Its pretty basic algebra. Who is your teacher for math 123?
Political science would be super hard for me! I barely passed that class in highschool! lol.

Yes sir, you're going to be VERY busy. I did both of those last semester together! It's not the worst, I enjoyed anatomy a LOT because it was like a break from all the chem. It also wasnt super hard either but a lot to keep up with, for me anyway!

I just have advanced physiology this fall so although I'm expecting it to take some work, I dont think it will be that bad either.

Is the advanced physiology something that you are taking to go towards bachelors degree?? I was just curious why you needed that class and if I should think about taking it.

And yeah, concentrating on one class should be easy enough! ?

Yes, well it started as I wanted to take microbiology and advanced phys and avoid chem, but then I took chem because micro wasnt available online, and then after talking to my sister in law, she suggested I skip micro and do advanced phys because yes it goes towards your bachelor's although I have heard a few times now not EVERY BSN program will accept it, but even still I have heard it is useful for the nursing program anyway, just to have that knowledge but I have heard the same about micro too

Alex James is the teacher for math. I'm not too worried about it, but I am worried about the political science. I just kind of picked it real quick when I was meeting with an advisor. I'm actually thinking about changing it to something else, but I just didn't like my options. I'm wondering if anyone has taken PHIL 102 (Into to Ethics) class. I might try to take that instead. ??‍♀️

Haven't had that teacher. Yeah, I am sure you will breeze through it. My first couple weeks in that class I was just like, whoa, I totally should have taken a higher math class.

I had that problem with my fall schedule. I needed one more class to be full time but i could not find anything that was easy enough. So I just stayed part time. I did not want to kill my self this fall just to stay full time ?
I have not taken either of those classes. I have no idea which one might be easier.

Hey! Has anyone taken APHY 201 and Micro 201 at the same time. Those are the last two classes I have aside from Nursing classes. I am just wondering what I've gotten myself into for this fall semester with these two classes together..

I have seen in the group to try and take the HLS classes if you need to be full time as they are supposed to be relatively easy, but I dont know that you can do them before the program or not.

@LMAY I havent take a PHIL class either, I dont think that I would do okay in anything like that but I'm not sure. I took sociology in high school and did terrible. I am sure they are the exact same but those types of classes are harder for me lol

You also will be very busy. My advisor told me 201 is just HEAVY material and I have heard the same about micro BUT those are going to be very good classes to have under your belt for the program! Where are you taking 201? I am also taking that this fall, but by itself as I took chem in the spring!

I know this seems premature (excited to start buying things in preparation), but does anyone know what scrub colors Fort Wayne uses? Also does anyone know if you can buy the patches to put on scrubs through the bookstore or do you have to buy the whole scrub set through them?

Which section of 201 are you guys in? If my schedule goes to plan I'll be in the W/F evening class.

I have been wondering this too. I saw steel grey at least a year ago but not sure if that has changed and not sure on the patches so hopefully someone else is more helpful.

And that makes me sad lol I have it tuesdays and thursday in the afternoon with Steele

I am taking both at the Lawrence campus!

@Kotylynne just stopped in to the Barnes and Noble on campus. They are steel grey for Fort Wayne and you can buy just the patches for $7 each.
