Ivy Tech Fall 2011 Waiting on THE letter

U.S.A. Indiana

I've been reading "allnurses" for several years, never thinking I'd reach this point. So, I never registered. However, after 2-years of night classes the dream of nursing might become a reality. Now, the wait for acceptance/denial begins. It's all come to this point for many of us.

Several years ago there was a forum where people were waiting on THE letter. Why not have one for the folks waiting on 2011? If there IS one I missed it.

We're all in the same boat, all waiting on the letter, and wondering if there was a minor detail overlooked. Was the score high enough? Did my transcript fall through the folder, then get swept under the desk? (That one woke me up last night) In my case, my brain can handle the wait...my stomach/intestines are not doing so well.

Thought this might be a nice thread to vent, support, and otherwise worry with each other for the next couple of months. Near as I can tell, it's going to be 74 days, give or take, before we all know....one way or the other.

Best of luck and keep prayin' I know I am! :)

My guess is that it's April 1st across the board, but the ways of Ivy Tech can be a mystery :coollook:.

If it makes you feel better, JMM, I've been checking the mail, too. Starting in the next week or so, I'll probably drive home for lunch to check...just in case. My scores are too borderline for me to relax much.

Within two weeks we should be within 'striking distance' of the letter, though. :banghead:

Rhubarb, I read through all of the posts before, but I can't remember (or find) your scores. I haven't posted mine, so here they are- 4 A's and a 74% on the teas with the lowest score in science. :(

Momma Fields, where did you apply? I have all A's and a 73 on TEAS. We are in the same ballpark. Sucks that one point could make the difference. I had like a 63.3 in Science, which was a huge improvement from the first time I took it! Good luck to all!

I applied only to Columbus. I got a 53 on my science, but 100 in math, 93 in reading, and 98 in English, so I don't know how that will balance. You would probably get in before me because they don't go by percentages, but by an overall weighted score. 190 is the absolute highest a person can get. When I spoke with my advisor, he said that he has seen a lot of Teas tests and that mine was one of the highest he's seen, but I don't know whether to be happy or upset, because I didn't study and this was the first time I took it. It's very conflicting. :uhoh3:

hey, not to butt in or anything, i just figured that i'd point this out in case you didn't already realize, momma fields. i noticed that you said that you have a 74 on the teas. you should actually have about an 83.65 (~84) on your TEAS with the weighted system, and given your subsection scores you posted, you should have had around an 86 without it. an extra ten points never hurt anyone, right...?:coollook:

 Really?! Why is that? I knew about the entire selection points process (not sure if I said that right) for nursing school, but I didn't know about any weighting for the Teas alone. You've gotten me all sorts of excited now!! (I can barely type, lol!):yeah:

Well, when you apply the weight system to your subsection scores, they look like this:

Math: 100*.2=20

English: 93*.25=23.25

Reading: 98*.25=24.5

Science: 53*.3= 15.9

And after you add them up, their sum comes out to be 83.65

:)

Kind of off topic but has any one heard that in order to get into a nursing program that uses the Teas test you need to score at least a 70% in all the sections, that's what a RN told me at work I don't know how true that is because I haven't heard of it. Anyone else?

"New TEAS Selection Points: TEAS V English, Reading, Math, and Science sub-test scores will be included in the weighted selection point system, but will no longer have the minimum scores currently required. Please attend an information session for details on the point system."

^That was on pg. 3 of the outline of the new selection criteria : http://ivytech.edu/nursing/admission-selection_changes_summer2011.pdf

This week I am getting really nervous and anxious! Didn't think I would feel like this!

I applied at Fort Wayne for ASN and LPN, leaning more towards ASN of course ;) I have all A's, am taking Math 131 this summer, and got a 90.0% on the TEAS. I am almost positive I will get in, but you never know what could happen! I even checked my folder 3 times and stapled it closed all the way around, just so I wouldn't lose any papers! Does anybody know what day letters are supposed to be sent out?

Specializes in psych, addictions, hospice, education.

I heard they would be prepared May 15. That doesn't mean they were mailed then!
