Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)
I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.
I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.
So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.
On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.
I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.
About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!
I agree. I remember being pretty pressed and under the gun for my immunization record (I'm a california native, and they mysteriously couldn't find them). I had to have titers drawn for just about everything. If it helps anyone who's fearful of low scores, I got into lafayette during an extremely high applicant semester apparently (2 apps per 1 seat), and my application score was something like 122-124/160.
Even if you have a low score, don't give up hope! I was told by my advisor that even if you get waitlisted, an average of 6-10 people decline their seats for each campus in order to give a "yes" to their home/closest campus.
That's actually quite a relief to hear about the campus acceptance! I still am not sure exactly what I still need immunization wise but I picked up my immunization record from my high school the day after I applied, so I'll review it this weekend. Luckily I get my TB test done through work and my first aid and CPR certification too. So hopefully all of that and my immunizations are taken care of completely. I don't remember specific requirements, I'll have to review them again and make sure I have everything in order.

Btw, Bdab do you mind me asking which round you heard back during?

I honestly don't remember there being "rounds". We had paper applications, and you either got a rejection, waitlist, or acceptance letter in the mail. They seemed to come whenever the nursing chair got around to it for the most part.

Ha, yeah, so everyone be glad things have improved since then, huh?! :)
I was actually going to post about this. Pretty sure first round of emails will go out first thing tomorrow morning. Spring 2017 application deadline was September 1st and people starting posting acceptance emails on September 9th. If you look at the Spring 2017 scores file you can see the comments. So be ready to start hearing good news tomorrow!
ETA: I'm glad wrong that's great!
