Similar to leadkrm, I applied to three jobs, was asked to interview and shadow, and turned down two offers to ultimately accept my dream job at Eskenazi ER. I’ll also be starting on Monday! Definitely no struggle finding a job, the majority of my classmates already had something lined up before graduating.

It's been a month since graduation and I wanted to check in earlier but the site has been under construction. Has anyone taken their NCLEX yet or how has NCLEX studying been going? I took the NCLEX January 5th and found out I passed on the 7th! It's the biggest relief as I was practicing 250+ questions a day and some nights wide awake stressing about it. I do peer tutoring once a week and a first semester student who received their schedule for second semester said they have mental health for 8 weeks then med surg 2 for 8 weeks and pharmacology the entire 16 weeks.

Yes we're almost done! A month until graduation it's going by fast but finding motivation to study has been challenging. I'm sort of burnt out and just ready to be done. I had my first interview last week for a nurse residency on a progressive care unit. So it's becoming very real. I hope I can take the NCLEX soon after graduating. I'm also in IUPUC's RN-BSN program and I only have 4 classes left after this semester. If anyone has any questions let me know but it sounds like Lawrence is changing some things around as far as 16week courses becoming 8 weeks and things like that.

That's pretty much what I've heard from LPN students. The tests are really difficult no matter how much you study. I'm most nervous about this class than any of the other ones, but we'll get through!

@Leadkrm That's awesome. I have no idea where I want to work. Working as a PCA is invaluable experience. Congrats and yes I have class on Thursday mornings. Have you already taken OB/Peds? Any advice?

Third semester done! I completed the semester at the end of July and it was intense but I made it through. On top of that, I enrolled at IUPUC and am working on getting my BSN. Just finished four classes plus still working full-time. Fourth semester starts in about 10 days and I can't believe I'm almost done! We only have class two days a week with OB/Peds Lecture and Clinical and Capstone. Now I'm thinking of where I want to work and getting prepared for the NCLEX. I'd like to take it asap after graduating so I can finish the rest of my BSN classes. If anyone has any questions about Lawrence ASN program let me know!

Just popping back in to see how it is going for everyone. I'm only about 4 weeks away from being done with second semester and I'll be going through the summer taking complex medsurg. This semester I'm taking pharm, medsurg 2 and mental health. Mental health has been the least favorite across the board for most in my cohort so really ready to be done with it and move on. Leadkrm you are about to graduate right? 37changes how is your second semester going for you? Not sure what to expect this summer since complex seems like a lot of material to do over the summer plus the amount of clinical hours we have to complete but medsurg has been my strongest class so far. I'm in my first semester of nursing school at Ivy tech in the Lawrence campus. Not sure what campus you're going to but every Ivy Tech campus is different so I can only speak for where I go. I've also read a lot of the same things you've mentioned. I just got my midterm grades and have all A's and I work full-time. I will say it's challenging, it can feel overwhelming at times but not as hard as people make it seem now that I'm actually doing it. Granted, I'm only in my first semester but I'm feeling more confident that I can do well as I go. I work in the medical field so I do think that has given me some advantages, but there are some that have never stepped foot in a hospital and there is a learning curve and I think that's where the nervousness about clinicals comes from. Instructors also play a huge part. My experiences in clinical or lab compared to my some classmates are very different just because we have different instructors.

I'm at Lawrence as well. Yes like leadkrm said all our classes run 16 weeks. Clinical starts 2-3 weeks in just so we can get the basics done vitals, assessment, PPE, transfers and safe positioning and as we continue learning things in lab and get checked off on our competencies we're able to do more in clinicals. I will say I got lucky with the instructor I have for lab and I can say the same for clinical, my classmates tell me of a different experiences depending on the instructor kind of like what leadkrm. My lab instructor is very straight to the point, cuts out all the extra fluff, tells us exactly what she wants to see from us and communicates more in ways I can improve rather than this is what you did wrong. I know I won't have this luxury every semester.

I can't believe we're already half way through the first semester. I've been able to get A's on our first two tests in med-surg and in funds. I love clinical so much To learn and we always stay busy and love lab probably even more lol we just took our midterm competency and it went well.

First week was definitely overwhelming just getting oriented but once I organized everything I'm feeling a little better. There's definitely a lot of good resources for studying provided to us and I enjoy all the professors you can tell they love what they do. Leadkrm, any advice/tips on studying for test for fundamentals and med-surg for lawrence? Is it possible to get an A on the test lol? Fundamentals is a ton of information although not difficult to understand and this first test has the least amount of content (btw I can't even imagine taking it over 4 weeks) but they said half of students usually fail the first test. I know once I take the first test, I will have a better idea of what and how to study but definitely nervous and want to do well. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
