Ivy Tech Fall 2017 Hopefuls

Published

Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)

I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.

I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.

So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.

On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.

I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.

About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!

Leadkrm how did your clinical go today? Are you liking it so far? :) hopefully all is well for everyone so far today too.

Clinical today was great. It was much faster paced on the ortho neuro unit than on the rehab unit. The morning went by slow with orientation, but the rest of the day really flew by. The staff was nice. Thanks for asking. How was everyone else's day?

Where have your clinicals been so far? I work downtown at IU Health (Methodist/University/Riley) and I'm wondering if I'll end up having any there?

The lady who does scheduling tried to get us in a clinical site as close to our homes as possible so I've been at saint francis both semesters. I really enjoy the place. They have nice staff so far and good clinical experiences for us.

I've made a new friend (of a friend) ~ and she just graduated from this program. I asked her today & she says it is 4 semesters, and Muncie going through the summer is a new change. So she thinks we'll start in the fall, finish in the fall, and walk in the spring, because they only have one big ceremony. Haven't confirmed this with anyone yet, but I hope she's right!

Hey guys!

I always loved reading threads like this! I just recently graduated from the lafayette ivy tech's traditional ASN program a few weeks ago. If you guys have any questions, or need guidance, feel free to ask! You're in for the ride of your life!

Hey, thanks for stopping in! And congrats! So when do you get to do your NCLEX -- do you know?

I hope you'll stick around, because I can guarantee there will be questions. :)

We'll take all the help we can get!

I actually just got my permission from the BON (There's a long drawn out process that takes a large chunk of time to get everything sorted by the state) to take my nclex, and it's scheduled for June 5th :)

June 5th -- awesome. I have a friend who just graduated also, and she will be taking hers in the next 3-4 weeks. She told me about this "process" also. Sounds a little frustrating if you're prepared for it, and just want to get it done! I do hope you'll come back and let us know how you do. It is SO helpful to hear from people who have been there, done that ~ and people from our same school, in particular.

Hi new friends! This wait is the worst! I applied to the Bloomington campus back in March with a score of 141, 60 pre-reqs and 81 teas. Good luck to everyone!

Welcome, emily! ...We should all know something soon... :)

So I went ahead and got my Tdap done last week. I'm sure I'd never had one, and when I was a kid it was just a T. lol

Had titers drawn, was happy to find out I'm still good from the chicken pox I had 30 years ago! Needed boosters for MMR & Hep B, which I had done today. But I don't have to do the whole series again. {whew} So. I think I'm done at the doctor's office until I have orientation etc and they want the paperwork and TB test completed.

I'm really glad to have all of that out of the way. Regardless of anyone's opinions about vaccines, they clearly DO have an affect on your body. I wanted to do what I can now, while I'm on break, not stressed & with a million other things going on.
