They had us go try the uniform on to see what size we wore and they are making them, that's why they won't be ready until around mid-August. I was really hoping for drawstring pants, but no....they had to be elastic. ;-)

The Med/Surg book scares me! I flipped through it, scanned a few pages, and decided that I would wait a bit before reading any more. I haven't opened the pharmacology book yet lol. I don't have any of my other books. The bookstore didn't have them and they are backordered online. Yay.

*EDIT - Well, I dunno if they're 'making' them, but they're doing something with them. LOL

Oh, now I feel lucky. Our bookstore had tons of scrubs in and the pants had drawstings! Only thing I'm waiting on-is we have to have the Ivy Tech patch on our lab coats and the patch isn't in. Other than that, the books just cost me a little over $900..ouch! And I haven't looked inside them..I'm too scared! Good luck to all you ladies!!

Wow - We just had to buy our scrubs in the bookstore, no patch or anything. I asked them about the patch but I guess Lafayette doesn't use it. Khaki-colored elastic pants and Caribbean blue v-neck tunic top. I got two sets of uniforms, plus a warm-up jacket because I have a tattoo on my left forearm.

I have all my books except the Pharm book, which won't be in until next week. I agree that the MedSurg book looks scary! And it's so thick! I wonder how we're going to get through all of it!

We have green elastic waist pants (I was pretty stoked to get a M, lol, I haven't worn a M in about 15 years!) and a white smock/tunic type shirt with green trim. It's not too terrible, at least the pants are longish and fit well, so I shouldn't complain that I've had 4 babies and NOTHING elastic looks good on my stomach, right? ;-) The jacket was the worst looking thing about it, but, honestly, its not that bad. I'm glad I don't have to wear a vest or something. LOL

I had to try my scrubs on at the bookstore over my clothes, which was kind of awkward. I'm usually a 6/8 in pants and a medium in tops but I had to buy "smalls" for both. Can't complain, I guess!

2nd year ASN students wear the green scrub top.

Enjoy it while you can. If you end up having to do the summer classes you will not have time for any of that. This program is very very difficult. I am half way through and am sad to see some of my classmates, all of whom are very smart, failing classes and being forced to retake. Prepare yourself for the challenge that is ahead of you.

What he said :) Best of luck to everyone, you're in for one heck of a ride. Enjoy the rest of your Summer!

Thanks, MistyMiss!

I finished up all of my coreqs this semester and we don't have summer classes (unfortunately), so I'm looking forward to a free summer in 2011, woohoo! I'm as excited as I am nervous about the nursing courses and I've emailed a couple of my instructors to see if it's possible to get a syllabus so I can get a head start. I haven't heard anything and then I realized, uh, DUH, it's summer and many teachers/students take that time off! :lol2: Darn, though!

Woohoo, that's awesome, Erika! It's amazing how much children change your body. I gained so much weight in the past few years and I've had a hard time losing it, yet here in the past 4 months I've lost over 20 lbs and I only have 12 more to go until I'm at my pre-3rd baby weight! Stress has contributed, as has running my children to and fro this summer, but I also gave up the glass of wine that I would drink a night or two a week and I think that's what has contributed the most. No more alcoholic beverages for me! I also have psoriasis and it's cleared up so much that its barely noticeable! I don't know if that's due to the time of year (it apparently gets better in summer - this is my first year having it so I'm not sure), eating/drinking better, or what, but I like it, whatever it is!

Indianapolis is working on making Summer mandatory, all but around 10 students went straight through. While it would have been nice to have the Summer off, OB/Peds was extremely intense, I couldn't imagine having to take the class coming off of a break. Too much knowledge lost.

Keep up the great attitudes everyone!

Congrats on the weight loss, Tara! I've gained about 10 pounds since January, which is such a bummer. I had my son last July, and I had no problem losing the baby weight. I've always been pretty small, so the weight gain is noticeable, or at least I worry it is. It doesn't help having a husband who went to culinary school and is always making delicious food. My mom and I are going to start going to pilates classes together, I think - so I hope that helps.

It's interesting to see the different uniform requirements for the different campuses and see the difference in prices for the books.

Our uniforms are sandstone pants and top (with a logo embroidered on it) and a white top for second year ASN.

I got all my books through the bookstore and it was about $650. All brand new! After I got them, I came home and checked on Amazon.com and it was actually cheaper to go through the bookstore!
