Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

Cabana, I didnt get it today, so it probably wont be until Wednesday if they mail it Tuesday. This really sucks!! We just need to try and enjoy the weekend I guess.

Ya, I did not get mine either. It is so frustrating that they say one thing yet do another. Why give a date when they do not follow it? I just hope that they send out BOTH the RN and LPN letters at the same time instead of waiting to send out the LPN letters at a later date. Did you apply to both? Really, at this point I just need to get into one or the other. Enjoy the weekend!

OMG!!!! I received my letter today and I made it into the ASN program at Evansville!!!

p.s. I had a 207 w/o region pts

Congrats Tara!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yeah::jester::clown::p:D:):up::lol2:

I also asked ***** if we would get a letter if we DONT get in and she said that we would be notified by email if we do not get into either program. Now it seems that everyone else is getting letters sent to them so I question if she really knows how they are going to handle the denial letters/emails. I have been checking my email and have not gotten anything yet so I guess that is a good thing.

congrats tara!!!!!!

:):yeah::):yeah::):yeah:

Thanks L7, Janex, and bizandgray!!!! OMG, I'm freaking excited! I got teary eyed when I read the letter, but I had just put on makeup, so I had to rein it in (lots of hand waving around my face and eye blinking). :uhoh3: :uhoh3: :lol2: It was funny, though, my daughter checked the mail and when she came in, she was like, "You have a letter from Ivy Tech." I said, "No, I don't," b/c the kids had been teasing me about getting the letter. However, I definitely DID have one and I had a feeling that it was the acceptance/rejection letter. I looked at it for a second and took it outside with a Diet Mtn. Dew to open it in private (those of you with kids - especially more than 2, know that there are very few places that are private, even the bathroom isn't off limits to kids). I stared at it for about 30 seconds then ripped it open. I was expecting a big congratulations on the top, but it wasn't there and I freaked out for a minute until I read the first sentence.

OMG....I don't know what to do with myself. lol.:bowingpur But, I think that celebration is in order! *wine

Congrats Tara! So what did the first sentence say? I think mine from Lawrence last year did start off with Congratulations. . .

Congratulations Tara! :clpty:

I bet you're so excited and happy! If I was down there I'd celebrate with you! :D I'll drink a glass of wine tonight for you.

Thanks, Chris and Erin. :-)

The first sentence started with Congratulations, but I inferred, after reading other posts, that there would be a large CONGRATULATIONS at the beginning. LOL, or maybe that was just my wishful thinking. ;-)

Yes, Erin, drink a glass for me. I swore off alcoholic beverages about 2 months ago, except in a celebratory/light manner (a shot of Patron for awesome news), but I think I'll be sticking to the 'no alcohol' thing. I did tell my husband that I wanted some sushi from my favorite Japanese restaurant, though!

Congrats - if you have any questions about the program, send me a message.

Thanks, all4him. I have a TON of questions, lol. How are you doing in the program?

I just sent you a message. ;-)

All the campuses have different letters. Mine said "congratulations" in the first sentence too, but it was definitely in all caps and in a bigger font.

I have a ton of questions about the nursing program too! Especially about what we're going to have to do beforehand. Unfortunately, I don't have health insurance right now. I was on my dad's health plan through Purdue, but then I got married and it lapsed. We're trying to get it figured out. Are we required to have it? I know some schools do require that. :uhoh3: Of course, now that I know I'm in I'm going to find something else to obsess over and worry about.

Also, what kind of physical do we have to have? Just a basic one, or should I ask my doctor specific questions?

If your campus is like others, you'll get a health form to take to your dr. They just have to sign that you are physically capable of performing all necessary activities in the program. There are also places to sign/date when you got shots for MMR (2), HepB series (3), varicella, and TB 2-step test. You can provide proof of immunity for MMR and varicella I believe. Not sure but I think if you had a TB within the last 6 mos it might be good, but I can't remember. I got a titer for varicella and then submitted the lab results with my other paperwork. You will also have to take American Heart Association Healthcare Provider level CPR and submit a copy of front and back of the card. Let's see, what else. . . oh yeah a background check and drug screen. You should get info about that at your orientation if it didn't come in your acceptance letter envelope. At Indy we didn't get all that stuff till orientation but a friend of mine at Ft Wayne got all that info with her acceptance letter and had to have most of it done by the time they had orientation, so it depends on your campus.
