Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....
Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?
I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.
And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!
Erin, which campus are you taking chemistry at? If you are taking it online through SB, then don't sweat it. It is actually very basic chemistry and is not difficult at all. Simple math and you don't have to memorize the periodic table. I took it last summer along with Comm 102, and was able to get A's in both. There is a lot of "busy" work involved with all your "late nite labs" but you should be just fine :)
I'm taking it on-campus at Lafayette. Today we did measurements and significant figures, and I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding the significant figures thing. Sometimes zeros count, and sometimes they don't... I'm hoping that when I do my homework problems it'll start to make more sense. I'm determined to do well in this class, but it's worrying me.
Today I was accepted into the dental hygiene program at the South Bend campus!!! I am super excited that I got in (they only take 15 students and over 100 applied.)
I'm still waiting on my nursing letter though I would much rather be a nurse and dental hygiene was my "back up"....so now I get to play the waiting game even more...
So maybe tomorrow will be the big day???!!!
ok ladies!!!! i got a reply back from one of the dept chairs in lawrence...she didn't tell me the cutoff scores but she said that the letters will probably go out tomorrow...i wonder how long it takes mail to get from indy to greenfield. hopefully just a day! friday could be a big day for a lot of us!
tara, i found the email address of someone in the nursing dept in evansville...i'll send it to you in a private message (not sure the woman would want her email on here lol).
Both....I have been out walking to try to get back into shape and to help relieve stress....until these letters come I am afraid its not working much on the stress :)
Too bad you don't live in Greenfield or we could walk together. I'm so proud of myself for getting up early, before the kids, and getting out there. Walked 3.5 miles today! I thought it was going to kill me, but it felt great afterward.
Tara-np, let me know if you hear anything!

That's great 3.5 miles! I am working my way back up to 5 miles but this heat even early in the morning is a killer. Keep at it :)
I wish I had the motivation to go out and walk, but it's just been way too hot here. My apartment doesn't have central AC either, just a window unit in the bedroom. We're moving to a much nicer house on June 10th that does have central air, though.
I know I mentioned this earlier, but does anyone have any advice on figuring out significant figures? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this concept, and it's a bad sign that I'm getting confused this early in the class! :dzed: We don't have lab next week, because of Memorial Day, but my professor said he'd be in his office on Wednesday to help demonstrate the dimensional analysis problems. I'll try to ask him for some extra help - it's not the actual math I'm struggling with, it's just the concept...
I had to go to the Ivy Tech bookstore today to buy goggles for Chem and I seriously considered buying an NCLEX prep book, haha. Can't hurt to start studying early!
REALLY hoping that you all get your letters tomorrow! :heartbeat

At least they put the date on the recording, but we already knew that thanks to the booklet! I wish I could get in touch with someone at the Evansville campus, but I only get the answering machine and I don't know who to email.
The mail should be running soon and I've got my phalanges crossed. ;-)
