Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

Today I was accepted into the dental hygiene program at the South Bend campus!!! I am super excited that I got in (they only take 15 students and over 100 applied.)

Congrats! I've always thought about doing that but I don't have any programs near me...what did you have to do to get in?

I know I mentioned this earlier, but does anyone have any advice on figuring out significant figures? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this concept, and it's a bad sign that I'm getting confused this early in the class! :dzed: We don't have lab next week, because of Memorial Day, but my professor said he'd be in his office on Wednesday to help demonstrate the dimensional analysis problems. I'll try to ask him for some extra help - it's not the actual math I'm struggling with, it's just the concept...

I had to go to the Ivy Tech bookstore today to buy goggles for Chem and I seriously considered buying an NCLEX prep book, haha. Can't hurt to start studying early!

It really just comes down to remembering the rules... Leading zeros aren't...trailing are. Any zeros in between are also. If a line is placed over or under a number then that number and the numbers to the left of it are significant. It also works with decimals for example (300.) Has 3 sig figs.

Lol I've been wanting to buy a book too! Actually I've been wanting to buy all the supplies haha I'm really excited! But I'm waiting until orientation to get anything.

It wasn't that different from nursing. The four main prereqs are required along with chem and micro. So six grades are taken into account on the same point system the nurses use (180 total possible). The TEAS is required, but it's only used as a tie breaker. (You also don't have to get a certain score on the TEAS to qualify.) The program is fairly new at the South Bend campus (just been around for two years) so maybe some of the other campuses will see the program pop up before lone.

I wish I had the motivation to go out and walk, but it's just been way too hot here. My apartment doesn't have central AC either, just a window unit in the bedroom. We're moving to a much nicer house on June 10th that does have central air, though.

Yay on the house with A/C!! Do you have a Wii Fit? I have one and there are "walking" exercises that are really fun. I prefer actually getting outside in the fresh air, listening to my ipod, and not having any distractions (except those pesky cars on the road). But the Wii Fit is a good choice if you have to stay at home and workout. My 3 year old loves the hula hoop game.

My mail just ran and there's no letter from Evansville again today. *le sigh* I did tell the mail lady that I would be stalking her for the next few days, though. :lol2:

Nothing from Lawrence today. Oh please let tomorrow be the day we receive our letters! :bowingpur

Laura

I wish I would have never found this website. If the waiting alone wasn't enough, I now have a place to remind me what I'm waiting for. Yippee!

In the same boat as all of you. No letters today from Columbus, B'town and Terre Haute...This is pathetic!

Letters should be mailed out of Lawrence today, so depending on how early they got them out, we could have them in our hot hands tomorrow!

heck i like the hula hoop game :lol2:

i know I am right there with you....The anxiety has hit hard the past few days. I applied to Lawrence and Anderson/Muncie. To top it all off I moved last month and tried to contact nursing admin to change address from what was on my application. No response. Forwarding my mail has been a nightmare, I am not getting 99% of it. I know the person and living at my old address and I told her to open anything from IT ASAP!!!
