Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

Erin, I'm in the same boat...I can't stand that people think just because I don't have a job that pays cash, that I don't WORK! I have two kids, a husband, and school...I consider that work. By going to school, we are teaching our kids how to strive and reach their goals. Yesterday we had to go to the Verizon store and my 3 year old wanted to go look at the mini laptops so she said "Daddy, lets go over here and do our homework...come help me do homework."

I remember the days...my son would watch me do my college homework and mimic me. Now he is studying for the LSAT preparing for law school. Oh, yes...raising children is a full time job...I did it twice and would not have traded it for anything. Relish the time because it flies by...:twocents:

Just wanted to say good luck to all of you waiting for letters. I remember the feeling all too well. And Congrats to those who received letters already from those campuses that managed to get letters out very promptly!

Re: med terminology. I took that class a few semesters ago and found it very helpful. Just learning all the prefixes and suffixes will give you an easier time in Advanced physio and in med surg.

Just my luck my daughter lost my mailbox key of all things! Anyone from Kokomo let me know if you get yours today! I have to wait until the afternoon to get a new one, and my mail has already ran today grrr

I'm starting to think I may have signed up for too many classes this summer. :uhoh3:

I have my first Chemistry quiz tomorrow (today, actually - I'm up too late!) and even though the first chapter was very simple I can already tell the class is going to be hard. We have four exams in ten weeks! And my professor said that last summer, only one person in the whole class got an A. I'm kind of a perfectionist, and I don't want to mess up my GPA...

I also have my first COMM101 speech due next week. I had my first Public Speaking class today and the professor does a ton of stuff online and with different websites, which I'm not used to. We have to write the speech on a personal value of ours.

Not to mention my Technical Writing and Personal Finances classes that are starting in a couple weeks - even though those are both online, they're still going to take up a lot of my time.

I guess if nothing else this'll prepare me for the RN classes in the Fall. I'm the kind of person who gets really antsy if I don't stay busy. I should probably get offline now and try to get some sleep since I have a three hour Chem lab tomorrow! ;)

Erin, which campus are you taking chemistry at? If you are taking it online through SB, then don't sweat it. It is actually very basic chemistry and is not difficult at all. Simple math and you don't have to memorize the periodic table. I took it last summer along with Comm 102, and was able to get A's in both. There is a lot of "busy" work involved with all your "late nite labs" but you should be just fine :)

Nothing from Kokomo or Logansport today :sniff:

Bad news for all my SBers out there, but someone emailed me this morning and said letters won't be mailed until June 1st!!

So I'm not sure who is right, but it looks like we will be waiting until next Tuesday at the earliest (since the *******' mail won't run on Monday).

I also asked if she knew when orientation would be, and she said she didn't have that information, so no luck in that department either.

This south bend office is incredible. So frustrating for all involved that are waiting to hear and really.... why is it that they can not send there letters out ON TIME!!!!!!! Not only are they not very friendly there, nobody knows what is going on in that department. My bet is that they are not sending letters out until next week.... that is just the way this department runs in south bend! UGH! Try to enjoy the weekend everyone and Good Luck!

Nothing from Lawrence today. Another day to wait and wonder!

Laura

i called the lawrence office and got an answering machine. the recording said that letters will be sent out on or before may 30th. i also wrote to someone in the nursing dept and asked if they know what the cutoff scores were yet. i'm mostly worried that i won't have time to reply to lafayette if these other campuses don't get letters out in time. i'll let all of you know if i hear anything back.

an update on my new walking routine...i officially have 3 blisters. ouch! i know i need to get new shoes but have been putting it off. i guess the blisters are a reminder with every step that i need to finally get to the shoe store.
