Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

I am taking that ivy tech class also, so i am getting some financial aid, but not enough. I don't want to take any more classes this summer though... I don't really know what to do!

I took medical term as well. I found it very helpful when taking the TEAS as it helped me figure out meanings of words. It was also helpful in anatomy because after learning the meanings of the different word parts I was better able to answer some of the test questions. I have a feeling that the knowledge will also help me in my nursing classes and beyond as I work in the field. I am suprised that Ivy Tech doesn't require it and I am glad that I decided to take it and would recommend it to anyone heading into the medical field, IMHO.

I registered for Dosage Calculations...I read other posts which said it was helpful. I'm also taking Chemistry from South Bend campus. Any input is appreciated...mail has been coming in at 10:30am but as of yet NO LETTERS. I know that I am not getting into Bloomington with a 200. However, I am hopeful for Columbus and Terre Haute. I applied for both RN and PN. Anyone have info regarding these campuses? :nurse:

I got a reply from someone on the CC message board today that said (I am assuming by their message that they meant they actually got their letter in the mail today... I did not get mine yet) the cutoff for Sellersburg RN was 202. I also took medical terminology this spring, and I too think it is a good class to take because it was very helpful not only on the TEAS test, but in my advanced physiology class. If I wasn't sure of an answer on a test, I was able to do a much better job of my 'process of elimination' strategy to get the correct answer. :nurse: :yeah:

Hi Palm Tree:

Do you know the cut off for Sellersburg LPN? Just curious..

No, sorry... I haven't received a reply fr. that person yet, and they didn't mention the cut off for the LPN program.

This is my first post but I have been following this thread. I am also from Sellersburg. I know the person that posted it was 202 and I am not sure I am believing it. They do not have their letter but claim to have been at school and asked Angie and she told them. I will believe it when I get my letter and not before then. I have really stressed about this since yesterday when they posted it on facebook also but I now question the information for several reasons.

Ooooohhh, well, two of the three campuses i' still waiting on have said they aren't sending letters out till the beginning of next week. ~Lawrence campus: you are my only hope for a brighter week~ So on a distracting note, the whole 'walking and getting in shape' thing I'm doing is going to make my feet fall off...lol. But I think all the sweating is really improving my skin! When I got out of bed this morning my complexion was amazing!

HI Gilla and others...

I guess there is hope for me yet. I applied at Columbus, Terre Haute, and B'town. I signed up for online Chem and Dosage Calcs. Much to my surprise, I checked BB and saw that the Dos Cal class was up and running. I guess I am going to keep myself busy with this class. I know I should be walking (like you Gilla) but its been 91 degrees here in Ellettsville so I'm going to pass for the time being. I'll keep all of you posted regarding the elusive LETTERS.

I'm starting to think I may have signed up for too many classes this summer. :uhoh3:

I have my first Chemistry quiz tomorrow (today, actually - I'm up too late!) and even though the first chapter was very simple I can already tell the class is going to be hard. We have four exams in ten weeks! And my professor said that last summer, only one person in the whole class got an A. I'm kind of a perfectionist, and I don't want to mess up my GPA...

I also have my first COMM101 speech due next week. I had my first Public Speaking class today and the professor does a ton of stuff online and with different websites, which I'm not used to. We have to write the speech on a personal value of ours.

Not to mention my Technical Writing and Personal Finances classes that are starting in a couple weeks - even though those are both online, they're still going to take up a lot of my time.

I guess if nothing else this'll prepare me for the RN classes in the Fall. I'm the kind of person who gets really antsy if I don't stay busy. I should probably get offline now and try to get some sleep since I have a three hour Chem lab tomorrow! ;)

The power of youth. I am only taking Chem and Dosage Calculations this summer. I get antsy too but it sounds like you are pushin it...be careful...don't want you to burn out! :nurse:

Aw thanks... I think I'll be okay, luckily I have a great mom who's always able to watch my almost-one-year-old while I'm in class. And I have a great husband who never minds watching the little one while I do homework and study - or nap. I'm not working right now, so I'm trying to dedicate as much of my time to school as I can.
