Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....
Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?
I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.
And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!
omg!!i got an ivy tech letter in the mail and i opened it with baited breath....only to find that it was about student loans!!!! ughh!!!!! my stomach was in knots for nothing!
lol on a funny note; i pretty much ripped the envelope to shreds in my haste to see what it was. my husband was laughing. ;-)
funny now but how cruel to send those out the same time as acceptance letters.. ;0

i agree! they should be restricted from sending any and all mail not relating to the topic of acceptance to the nursing programs. and on that note, they should just let all of us in...obviously we all badly want to be nurses...so why don't they just make some extra room in the back of the class...lol
I already filled out the acceptance form and put it in the Ivy Tech envelope they sent me, but I think I am just going to hand-deliver it to the Health Science office on Monday, since I'm going to be on campus for my summer Chemistry class anyway. I'm so worried it would get lost in the mail or something.
I've got my phalanges crossed for you all. You all deserve to get in! :stdnrsrck:
congrats to all who have made it into the nursing program and i feel for those who have been waiting, like myself. can i ask those who have accepted their admittance to a school and then have been accepted somewhere else for whatever reason, that you please let the school know that you have changed your acceptance status so that they can give your spot to someone else. there are so many of us waiting as alternates and i have heard from the nursing instructors that people will decline their admittance to the school like the day before the class starts....not allowing the school to find alternates. thanks and again i wish those who have been accepted, the best of luck!

i totally agree...my friend that is in the lpn program now was an alternate and ended up finding out she got in 2 days before classes started. she was in a mad dash to get all of her requirements done before classes. thankfully the people in the nursing department were extremely helpful...i have a feeling that i'll be getting into one of the closer campuses and i will be letting lafayette know my spot will be open if that happens.
for anyone who gets in this time, one of my friends told me about the "...made incredibly easy!" books...here is the link to one of them and if you scroll down you will see where it says "frequently bought together" and it shows all 3 books we would need for our first semester:
amazon.com: fundamentals of nursing made incredibly easy! (incredibly easy! series)

i totally agree with you! all they need to do is hire more teachers so more people can get in without having to retake classes two or three times saving students lots of time and money!

So I decided I'm not going to accept the spot I was offered as an alternate for the LPN program. I hope that helps someone else to get in! I'm going to finish up some classes at Ivy Tech this Fall, then transfer to IUK in the Spring. I didn't want to have to do that, but I don't want to settle with LPN and I'm afraid that if I don't go for RN now, I'll end up as an LPN forever. I am going to meet with someone at IUK next week and get the details for all of that stuff. I think I have to take Microbiology, Communications, and a computer class and that's the rest of the prereqs I will need for their program. That kinda stinks because I had already signed up for Advanced Physiology for this Fall so I'm going to have to try to get in a Microbiology class now and they are all full at this point. Hopefully someone will end up dropping, or maybe Ivy Tech will open another class... So instead of being an RN with an associates degree, I will hopefully be an RN with a bachelors when this is all said and done :-) Good luck to everyone and congrats on making it in for those of you who did!! And for those of you who didn't make it in for this Fall, maybe I will see you at IUK?

Sorry, I would have responded to this sooner but I just got back from Ohio with my husband. My mother-in-law is watching my 11-month-old this weekend so I'll finally have some time to rest and relax before I start summer classes next week.
I was about to leave with my husband and a couple of our friends for Columbus yesterday when I opened my letter; I honestly thought it was something about summer classes since I'd heard letters weren't coming out until next week. So I was shocked when I saw the big "congratulations" in all caps! I jumped up and down in my front yard and then had to explain to my friends what was going on, haha.
I too was surprised at the cutoff numbers. I had a 208 - and thank God they round the TEAS scores, because I only got an 84.7.
I was only able to take the TEAS once, otherwise I know I could have done better. But at least I'm in! Our orientation is June 21st too, so it must be the same for the RN and LPN. They said that we would get information then about uniforms and "other requirements." No details really. I'm excited, though!
As soon as I got my letter I called my mom and she said that she started crying right in the middle of Target, she was so happy for me! Haha.
