Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

I'm impatient also. I am usually pretty laid-back about stuff but waiting for the letters is getting to me. Which campuses did you apply to? I applied at 4 so I'm waiting for a boat load of letters...lol

I only applied to the lafayette campus so I'm only waiting on one letter thank God LoL! Which campus did you go to for your other classes?

Yep, Futurama is coming back, FINALLY!! I'm super excited!!

I'm taking Micro and Math118 this summer and I will be done with all gen ed requirements (other than that pesky Ivy Tech 1 credit class, but I can throw that in somewhere), so I'm happy about that, too. I took A&P II on campus and I loved it! I learned sooo much and I'm hoping it will be the same for Micro. I'm just worried since its an 8 week course instead of 16.

Evansville is the closest campus to me at 15-20 mins away(the other closest is 2 hours away, I think...I don't really know much about Indiana cities) and I still don't get the region points since I'm not in one of the counties. So, that makes me worried about my score even more.

Question for all: how close are your campus' to your house? Or at least the campus that you want to get into the most.

i am taking my last co ed class :yeah:which is abnormal psych. i am also taking the ivy class online. i am going through lafayette campus but have also applied at valpo.....and you?

i have only applied at lafayette campus that's the closest one for me and it's the campus i have been going to the whole time. i took an online class once and they aren't my favorite. i feel like i get more out of it if i go to an actual class. it might be different for different classes though. i took sociology online. i'm taking the life skills class online in the fall and communications on saturdays in the fall also.

I'm taking 3 summer courses so that I don't have to take any summer courses from now on. I'm taking Microbiology in Indy (up at the campus by Ft. Ben) and Dosage Calculations online. I'm also currently taking a CNA class so that I can go ahead and hopefully start working as a CNA before the nursing program starts - if I get in the nursing program that is. IF I get into the RN program, I can't work at my current office job anymore and I can't afford to be out of work completely. :(

My closest campus is Columbus as it's about 35 to 40 minutes from my house. Bloomington is the second closest at 45 to 50 minutes from home. If I were to take it in Indy (the next closest) the campus up at Ft. Ben is oer an hour from my house. :(

If I get in, I will be driving from Danville to the the Lawrence campus, which is 50 minutes on a good day. I'm not too happy about that, but, at the last minute, the Greencastle location (only 25 minutes from my house) cancelled the RN program for the upcoming year. I didn't know about the Lafayette branch, or else I would have applied there, too. The funny thing, is that I get regional points for applying to Lawrence (50 min) and none for Greencastle (20 min).

I am anxious about knowing whether or not I was accepted, but I am mostly worried about what to do with my three little ones if I do get in! They have never been to a babysitter before, and my husband and I don't have any family in Indiana. That is actually stressing me out more than whether or not I get accepted!

The Kokomo campus is less than 5 miles from my house! I'm lucky, I didn't apply anywhere else though I just couldn't drive over an hour almost every day...still keeping my fingers crossed =]

The South Bend campus is about 2 miles away from my house, so I really lucked out on that one. I do wish I would have had the sense to apply to the Valpo campus as well. I had no idea that the competition was going to be as steep as it is, and I am not so sure I'll get in anymore. I thought I was a sure thing at first with my score, so I didn't even apply for the LPN program, but now that I know that there were over 500 applicants for 50 spots in South Bend, my confidence is diminishing rapidly...

Could you tell me how the CNA program works? Is it through ivy tech? I would like to do this too, but I haven't had time to research it yet. If there is a program I could do this summer, that would be great!

I'm taking Chemistry, Technical Writing, Intro to Public Speaking, and Managing Personal Finances this summer. Then I'll be done with my co-reqs! Good luck with Micro! I took it on campus last semester in Lafayette and loved it, but it was a pretty hard class. I got an A, but I had to work hard for it. I wish I still had my textbook, but I don't. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the class though! Or you can email me, [email protected]

Just wanted to also say GOOD LUCK to all you lovely ladies and keep your chins up - I know this next week is going to be hard, but I'm sure you all got in. :) Me and my husband are going to visit some friends of ours in Columbus, Ohio tomorrow so that should help take my mind off of the waiting.

I'll be sure to PM you if I have any questions. Thanks sooo much for the offer

My first choice is Terre Haute which is about 40ish minutes from my house. ( I live in Avon) However, I also applied to several campuses that are about an hour away. I'm determined to go somewhere! I know the driving part will suck, but maybe I'll get lucky and meet some friends who are driving also :)

I was really disappointed about the Greencastle campus. I also had planned on applying there. They told me they had decided to "Restructure" their program. I believe they aren't even accredited yet, since they haven't had very many (if any) graduating classes. It kinda threw up a red flag for me. Restructuring=Disaster. However, I'm in Avon so it too would have been about 25 minutes from my house :(
