Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

Specializes in ER.

Hey ya'll,

I haven't posted in here for awhile, so I though I'd check in and say hi. Looks as though everyone has been keeping this forum busy :) My sister and I applied to practically every Ivy Tech in the state. I live north and she lives south so we'll be doing some traveling. I finished my ANP 2 class on the first time with an A this spring. I was SOOOO proud of myself. Only you guys can relate to how hard it was....Also wanted to share a little info with you all about the Columbus campus. I took the CNA prep class this spring and it was an absolute joke! Our professor was the laziest professor I've ever had. She constantly canceled class and changed plans last minute. It's really got me thinking of whether or not Columbus will be the best place for me. Sure hope all Ivy Tech's aren't this way. I'm waiting for all my letters too :) Trying to keep myself busy so I don't have time to worry! Best Wishes...

Lafayette is accepting both RNs and LPNs. I think the RN letters go out first, though.

Nope my friends initials aren't WW :) You ladies are funny. Was Lafayette accepting RN's and LPN's this time around or only RN's?

I was a comedienne in another life.

Erika - All I know is that in my booklet it says that the RN letters will be sent on or before May 30th and the PN letters sent on or before June 15th. However, I would ASSUME (lol) that they would just pick the RN's first, then immediately pick the LPN's since they have all the scores right there. They SHOULD send them all out at the same time, but who knows. I'm sure they are busy, busy, busy!

I bought a new desk (L-shaped so I can work on the pc, then turn and write on the other side instead of my lap, woohoo!), a filing cabinet, and a new bookcase (my oldest daughter broke the old one trying to help me move it ), so I'm hoping that putting it together (or nagging my husband to death until he puts it together) as well as moving out the old desks (I'm getting rid of two), old bookcase, the old pc, and getting all my files into the filing cabinet will keep me busy for the rest of this week. My oldest girls (12 & 14) will want to do stuff this weekend, so I'm sure I'll be running the whole time so that should keep me busy, too. There's new downloadable content for my favorite xbox 360 game, so that should take some of my time during the day while the baby is napping. So...I'm HOPING that I won't have time to freak out, even though I'm already a little anxious (okay a lot ).

What are you guys doing this weekend?

I will be spending a whole day cleaning my grandmothers house and steam cleaning her carpets.

Thanks, gilla! That reminded me that I need to clean the carpets in my apartment, too! I don't know why they put white carpet in here, especially on the stairs , but they did. So, I'm going to borrow my MIL's carpet cleaner and get the stairs, living room, dining area, and pc area cleaned. I should probably go ahead and take down all the curtains and shower curtains and wash them as well. Hmmm....anyone know what I can use to clean furniture? I need to clean my couch...my oldest daughter decided that it would be okay (even though she KNOWS that its not okay) to eat somewhere besides the kitchen or the bar and she ended up spilling syrup (she was eating pancakes) on the couch! I got the spill cleaned up, but it left a dark stain that looks terrible and I really want to clean it if possible instead of buying a couch cover. The hubby and I talked about buying a new couch (the one we have is old), but we decided that it would be pointless until the baby gets older. I'll probably keep this one for the next four or five years, so keeping it looking decent is a must.

I usually use the oxyclean carpet spray that my mom got somewhere...spray it on and blot it like crazy. I steam cleaned the downstairs carpets in my house yesterday and was going to do the stairs and upstairs today but that's not happening till tomorrow. I don't know what we would do without our carpet cleaner. I have no idea why apartment complexes put carpet in them at all! If it were me, there would be no carpet within a 5 mile radius.

What are you guys doing this weekend?

I am going to a car show in Nashville this weekend! Should keep my mind off the mailbox...somewhat!!!

I cleaned my house last night and went through all my junk mail that lays around and found a 300 dollar check from my homeowners insurance company that I had overlooked back in March!!! Very nice surprise!! There is nothing like getting paid 300 dollars to clean your own house!!!! I think I may go shopping tonight!!!

i'm doing nothing except job hunting and I've been really bored lately...sometimes I wish I was going to summer school ;) have fun shopping @wannabe12...wish that were me! hehe other than that just wishin' it was next week!!

who on here watches LOST? I'm so sad it will be over by this Sunday :( It's my favorite show ever!! And they are cancelling FlashFoward, which sucks!!

I've already started checking my mail compulsively! I'm sure that the letters aren't going to be here for another week or two at the best... But I can hope!

I did get an e-mail from Karen Dolk at Ivy Tech Lafayette campus and she said the letters will be sent next week! So that's kind of helpful, but she didn't say what day next week :-( I don't know if they all realize what we are going through here hahah! This is absolute torture! And it is just now starting to dawn on me, that once I get accepted to the program, that's not the end of the road by any means. It's still going to be a lot of work once I get in one of the programs! I have been stressing out so much about getting accepted that I wasn't worried about what being in the program actually entails LoL! Good luck to you!

So, here is where I stand. I got an A in the 4 required classes. I got a 77 on the TEAS test. That make 197 total points. I didn't get the 3 extra points because of my location :-(

If I don't get in the RN program this Fall, I have also applied to the LPN program for the Spring. If I do end up in the LPN program, I am going to move to California when I'm done with that and do the LPN to RN transfer program at a school out there. If I get in the RN program here, I'm going to complete that, move to California and begin working on a master's degree. I want to eventually become a Nurse Practicioner. (So far that's the plan) I know a lady that went to Purdue to get her master's degree and she was already an RN, she took one class at a time and I think she said it took her like 3 years to get her master's degree. I'm not sure how it will all work for me, because after I finish with my RN I will have to work and I'm not sure how much it will cost to go to school after that. Right now, I don't have a job. I haven't the entire time I've been at Ivy Tech (3 semesters) which is probably the only reason I got all A's in the classes I have taken. This nursing stuff is a lot of work!

I have to take two Science classes still, and in my mind (up until I checked into it) I thought I would take one per semester while I'm in the RN program, but I looked online for classes and none of the Science classes are available on Saturdays, I'm not sure what to do about that because the RN program is Monday-Thursday, and the classes I need are either Monday and Wednesday, Wednesday and Friday, etc. I can't double up on Science classes during the summer (I don't think) So now I'm kind of freaking out about that too...I guess I will just have to wait and see which program I get in, because I may not have to worry about those Science electives right now anyway....

great news on the letters being mailed next week!! i am really trying not to stress this week so now that i know they will be mailed next week, i will pretend they will not go out until next friday. this way if they really don't go out until then, i won't be disappointed when i go to the mailbox and there' nothing there. i have been trying to find things to keep me busy this week but no matter what i am doing, those letters are constantly on my mind!! i start summer classes next week so that should help me and give me something else to focus on....i hope.

The hubby and I watch Lost and we're both sad about the whole finale. I also watched Mercy religiously and I'm really upset that there won't be a second season, especially since the season finale was such a cliffhanger!!! The only shows I really watch are Lost (ending), Mercy (ended), Grey's, and Private Practice. Oh and of course Family Guy and American Dad. At least Futurama is coming back which makes up for Mercy AND Lost!!!

BTW, how do you guys know who to email? I thought about doing that, but I'm not sure who I would email or how to find out who it would be.
