Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

Tara- That is how I felt as well. I am still going to go to another one closer to the April 1st date just to make sure my attendance is accounted for since I went to one back in July.

APHY 101 Midterm Update- I haven't taken the midterm yet...BUT one girl in my class posted in the discussion board that she took it and missed HALF!!! She also said she had been studying through all the material for the past week. I'm like GRRREEAT!!!

That's about how I did! I was so mad! Ugh...and I'm not usually a complete idiot when it comes to stuff.

I'm sure you will do great! It really depends on the questions, too. I saw a test from another chick and was like, "Man, if I'd gotten that, I would have done so well!"

I went to a nursing session on Blackboard and I was told it would count. I had to take a quiz and print it out to show that I attended when I take the TEAS. I will probably buy the study guide when I take my final in Anatomy in December.

As for the midterm I would suggest going back over all the exams you have taken and study those. Does your class have the practice quizzes and tests? If it does study those, especially the matching questions. It really helped me remember those. I printed them and any powerpoints on index cards and it really helped. I got a high B on the midterm. In my class a few people did very bad on the midterm as well. The tests are so specific for closed book.

Good luck :)

Not sure if anyone is a nerd like me and likes to get their books early, but if you are...the bookstore is now open for pre-orders on Spring 2010 semesters books:)

Oooh awesome! Thanks! I am a nerd like that too ;)

Ok so I just went to the site. I guess they will just send us an email when books are available...

haha I was just about to post that. I wanna wait til I preorder then because I don't want to be stuck with everything they suggest! Oh well. I actually think there are only a couple more weeks til we can start charging with financial aid.

I don't know why they made it sound like this was some kind of good news. I can check myself I don't need them emailing me. I got excited for nothing!

KGLE did you see the post on Ivy Tech's forum about retaking APHY? I copied and pasted the response a moderator gave on the APHY 101 thread.

Hey everyone! So how are you guys doing? I know that I am personally counting down the days until the semester is over! Cannot wait for a small break :)

I can't wait either well I really can't wait to deliver this baby, due Dec 29th!!!

I will be lucky to pull a B out of A&P 101, but Psych and English I will have A's in. Still haven't taken the TEAS yet I am praying that maybe I will be able to somehow get an A in A&P 102 and score high enough on the TEAS that I will make up for the B in 101 (if I can get that) These lab quizzes suddenly are getting harder and harder. They are now completely over these Physio Labs and the questions seem like trick questions. From the discussion boards it seems like almost every one in my class is having a hard time with the lab quizzes though so it makes me feel better except for the fact that I need an A for the program.

I have 14 points that I can work with next week on both tests. So...that means I can only miss up to 3.5 on my lab and then 7 on my lecture (lab's 2 points each). That will bring me to an A. Otherwise I will be working for As on my cumulative final!

I have an A in English.

I have been looking at these debit cards for our refunds...and jeez it blows. You have to withdraw ON CAMPUS to avoid a $2 fee plus ATM fee...you are charged $0.50 for a pin transaction at a retailer. I really dislike the latter. I use my pin and wish that was all you COULD use...way easier to prevent theft and stuff that way! OH well...

You've got to be kidding me:

Assuming all your financial aid information is complete, financial aid will post to your student account February 1, 2010, HOWEVER, the College reviews every single students account to make sure you have not dropped classes, you are still eligible for the financial aid, your financial aid amount is accurate, etc, so it may take up to 14 days before you actually receive your money on your card.

I HATE this. I am so over it.

You put us on a brand new system that is supposed to be easier and faster, but its not either of those!

Ok so basically they have switched to this Higher One card so we can get the money on the card in the same amount of time as a paper check in prior semesters, but now we will have fees associated with using the card on top of that! And if we choose any other option it will take even longer...?! How is this making any sense?
