Writing out all my frustrations really helped me when I did my LPN and now I'm doing it again for my BSN. One of the main reasons why I'm doing this is because I know its hard to be a student in nursing school and I'm looking for other people who are going through the same thing as me to give me feedback on all of this. :typing Maybe we can all be a form of support for each other. You talk about your current experiences, your annoying/difficult classes, let off some steam and vice versa.
If any of you guys are interested in joining me let me know.

I'm game. But hey, isn't that what we are already doing here on allnurses.com? How will your blog be different? I hate to rain on your parade, but I'm just sayin'.

It's a good idea to have an outlet for your frustrations, but I would also be very wary of what you write and who sees your blog. I remember reading somewhere a person had written some of her experiences on a blog (myspace?) and the school expelled her from the nursing program after finding it.

Exactly - you always have to be very careful what you put out on the internet.

I had considered this as well, I have found a few and they have been most enjoyable and helpful to read. However, I think I will stick to pen and paper for now. I have heard several stories of expulsions and lawsuits stemming from student blogging. And imagine the horror of blogging a vent about that certain clinical instructor, only to have them stumble upon it while they are still in control of your future. Scary thought!

I think it's a great idea, just be wary of what you write. If I were to blog about my last CI not only would I never have had time to study because I would have been there venting, but she would have dragged me by my ear to the Dean's Office I am sure

I'm blogging my nursing experience. It's not the idea of blogging that the students are getting kicked out..it's what they wrote.Of course, my blog, I don't name any person or institution/hospital, not even my own.
The one that wrote on myspace..I think it was because of the way she described the patient giving birth to a baby. However, the school was ordered to reinstate her because the post didn't disclose the birth mother's name, age, address or any other identifying information. Here is the article:

I've seen plenty of nursing blogs..those written and those on youtube. I think it mainly depends on how the blog is written as well as the "tone" of the blog.

I think this is a great idea, and the idea of a collaborative blog is one that is pretty unique and frankly, a very good idea. Instead of prenursing or other nursing students having to find a bunch of different ones, there could be one where there are all different voices and different experiences in one blog. That's awesome.
I have to agree with Lovelymo79. If nursing student blogs were all bad, none of those bloggers would be RN's right now. It's how you present your information. Obviously if you complain about a clinical instructor, you might not want to disclose the school's name, hospital, or unit, etc.
To the OP, if you decide to pursue, contact me and let me know. I just started this Fall, and I would definitely be game.

I read some of the quotes from the Yoder blog and I have to say it was very humorless and quite offensive if you ask me.
OP: If you start a blog pm me a link I'll be interested in reading a collaborated blog.

I totally agree with you. I think this blogger got in trouble more by her offensive tone than anything else.
