Today it is cooler than yesterday - only 115 degrees! Yesterday was 118! Get out the thermal blankets and heating pads - thats a massive cool down. Anyhoo, with these extreme temps, We have been getting more patients admitted for heat related illness including dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and severe sunburns. We also had a patient admitted involved in a MVA but landed on the pavement and developed 2nd and 3erd degree pavement burns. And as if that is not bad enough, Out air conditioning at work broke down and we suffered with no AC for 7 hours. Of course we could not use fans in the nurses station because "It circulates microbes".

86 right now, but I really, really, really wish it would rain. We are getting another drought I'm afraid. And the poor midwest is flooded. What's going on with the weather?

Nasty!!!

In Sunny Minnesota we just had our first couple day run in the 80s!!! WOOO!

I feel your pain. I was driving today and it said the temperature was 119 :bluecry1:. Ugh!

Here in far Northern CA it has been cloudy all day with thunder and lightening storms with very little rain - which does not bode well for our mountains.

I just mowed the lawn and it was quite refreshing . . a few little rain drops, a nice breeze, no direct sun.

I am a summer and hot weather lover though . . . just not humidity. Getting off the plane in Hanoi was just like described in an earlier post - you felt like you couldn't breath.

I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks there.

The weather man kept saying that it was officially over a hundred degrees here last week. My thermometer is in the shade and it has been up to and over 100 for 3 weeks.

Give me winter anytime. I hate shoveling snow. But you can always add more clothing - after you are naked and you're still hot it is kinda hard to peel off your skin.

Isn't that funny - I think being cold is painful. It is sharp, it hurts.

Being hot is just being hot . ... my husband is working on our cooler right now by the way. And I have a fan going - even though it is cloudy and breezy outside. Love the smell of summer rain . ..

We lived in south Florida for 10 years and I HATED the summer heat, and no change of seasons. Then hurricane Frances came for a visit in 2004 and stole our house. We moved and I have never looked back

It's been 110+ days for over 7 days in a row now ..... and the next few days are supposed to be the same.

The heat isn't too bad, as long as you're only outside long enough to run from one AC'd building to another :D

The bad thing with it only being 5% humidity here is that you get dehydrated SO FAST ..... the sun sucks the life out of you, literally.

Living in MN I hate our winters, but I would rather take the MN winters then the hot summers of those further south.

I've been in a city in southern AZ the past few weeks and I am absolutely dying in this climate. Lately it's been 110 - 115 degrees. I'm leaving in a couple of weeks and can't get out of here fast enough! I don't choose to expend my limited physical and emotional resources simply trying to adapt so such a climate; I'd rather apply my energy to achieving life goals, things like that. I've lived in too many wonderful places like the SFBA where the weather is much more moderate and know I have choices. I even prefer midwestern winters -- I can deal with cold but not this awful heat. I've been sick, headaches, nosebleeds, horrible sinus problems, palpitations, &c.

I live 2 1/2 hours east of Seattle. Here in Central Washington it is a desert climate. It has been 97 degrees for the past 3 days. It does get up to around 115 further along in the summer. Actually this summer so far has been pretty cool. A/C is mandatory!!
