Is it True?

I saw a thread on here that the NCLEX passing standards will be raised this coming APRIL and I plan on taking the test on that month if not MAY. Is this true? Responses are greatly appreciated, thanks. :)

i've heard something similar to this, i heard they were gonna change a majority of it to select all that apply, imagine that....that would just increase the shortage of nurses...

Think of it this way:

You want your nurse to be well educated and not just pass a test.

Select all that applys are meant to encourage critical thinking and prioritization - you want a nurse who knows how to do both of those.

IMO - I would rather have a nursing shortage then to have too many nurses who dont know what they are doing..

We need great nurses - not anything else.

they change the test every 3 years to higher passing standards. and last time I checked it was in april 2007. go to the ncsbn site just to make sure.

hi..

if im not mistaken i believe tha the rn boards were changed last year and the lvn boards are changing this year.

That is correct.

The ncsbn has decided to raise the passing standards on the NCLEX-PN. The NCLEX-RN was changed last year. :)

Oh thanks everyone. Yeah I took the boards just recently and failed just this January. :( I had a ton of SATA's maybe like 10-15 it seemed! But I still was not able to pass.. Ironically I failed the areas that I passed before and I passed the subjects that I failed before! But it just goes to show that even if you think you've already mastered an area, that DOESN'T mean that you can lose sight on those areas and just focus on your weaknesses..but maybe I have myself to blame since it took me a year to get back into gear and take it again..Oh well. Anyways thanks for the responses, everyone seems very helpful here. Thanks again.

sorry to hear that.:o I have a friend who failed last october, and just past a couple of weeks ago.

I told her this:

study hard as hell, and give up fun things that you normally do... like shopping and going to luch with friends.

She ended up getting her money back from kaplan, then going to Hurst Review the live lecture...... did questions from kaplan and saunders CD.

and now she will be working with me in the same floor! I am so excited to be working with my friend!

anywho. Study super hard, and focus focus focus on studying. it takes tons of work and dedication. but passing is possible! don't give up!
