Is taking 3 science classes insane?

In my last semester of prerequisite before I apply for the nursing program, I'm taking chemistry 121, biology 227 and microbiology 233. is it a good idea taking all three at the same time? tell me your thoughts Thanks :)

You're going to be busy - but it's doable. Do you have other classes as well, or just these three?

The rule of thumb is not more than two sciences with labs. However, that assumes one is taking another class or two as well. Three sci/labs with no other classes and/or not too many other obligations (like jobs, kids, long commutes, very active social life) and no problems with motivation or ability is very doable.

If you start adding much else like other classes, other obligations, or inexperienced or struggling student than no, not very doable. Although I'm sure someone has done it with gobs of other additions - it wouldn't be a good idea for most people.

These are my last 3 classes for fall semester, but i need to get them out the way so i can apply for fall of 2013 nursing program.. im a C sometimes B student

If you're a C student most of the time, 3 science classes would be a big course load and you won't have much wiggle room. If you're ready to buckle down and hold your feet to the fire all semester, you'll feel amazing accomplishing those classes at the same time. Good luck, go with your instincts!

Hmmm, just from my experience I would not do those 3 together. I know some places allow you to apply even if you have more prereqs to take. For example, I am applying for fall 2013 too and the school I am looking at allows one class to be in process as long as it will be finished by the fall. So I will finish it in the spring or summer. Check if your school has that policy so you are not rushing everything and getting over whelmed.

Wow, I cam honestly tell you taking a micro course with any other science is definetely pushing it, its alot of content and as the previous user pointed out the rule of no more than 2 applies truthfully. I have taken all of these courses in the past and struggled to pass micro with the lab and 2 other non science classes, if your not working or have any other obligations trust me from experience buckle down and get ready to study from sun up to sun down with that load. However, if you do have other obligations it would be wise to drop one, it can be very overwhelming with all the science courses and labs ( requires a lot of memorization), and a lot of content

It will be pretty hard, but you can do it! If you havent relied on a tutor before, I would get one for each of the classes. You can always drop them if you're doing well. If you're a "C" student, you will need to use every single resource you an. But, like it's already been said, if you finish them all wih the grade you hope for, you'll feel SOOOO much pride in yourself.

It depends on the type of student you are. If science is your strong suit...then it shouldn't be an issue. However, Micro is a TOUGH class. I took it 20 years ago and now I have to re-take it because my credits are "too old" to use on my application for nursing school. So, while I'm taking 6 classes this semester, these are a review for me because I had them before.

You are going to need to really schedule your time so you can devote enough to learning the material, especially Micro. If you're a C/B student, it might be more of a struggle. Remember, your pre-reqs help determine if you get into nursing or not. You're going to be competing against people with 3.5 to 4.0 GPAs. You want your application to shine, not be the bare minimum. So, make a study plan and stick to it.

Taking three science classes is complicated. I hope you do no have any obligations because it will be even worst. I took two sciences at once with other courses during my pre nursing days and I was always on the run because exams were back to back and conflicted with my work schedule. It may be possible to accomplish this, but do not procrastinate because by the time you know it , you will never be able to catch up. Labs are attached with each of those science classes you are going to take. So eek :0.

I think the answer is QUALITY over QUANTITY. If you are a C student now, wouldn't it be better if you took two classes this semester and one class the following and got B's in them rather than C's in all three classes now?

Is the program you are interested in, based on GPA for admissions? If so then I would rethink your decision

i tried taking chem and a&p together. it was a disaster. i had to drop chem. what is your schools point system for getting into the program? my school only looks at our anatomy grades, math, and college english. they dont look at micro and chem grades. therefore, if i recieve a c in those classes it wouldn't matter except it will effect my gpa. so be careful how you pick your classes. i know your excited but at the same time make sure your grades are the best grades you can get. trust me i know your ready to get into nursing school. however your day will come. :)
