Is it possible to get into an accelerated BSN program without taking Chem?

Published

I've found a community college that does not have Chemistry as a pre-req for Biology, Microbiology, or A&P 1&2.

Is that unusual to be able to take A&P without Chem?

needless to say I'll be excited if I can skirt my way around taking Chem :smokin:

Chemistry was not a pre-reg for the anatomy or physiology classes I took so Its not unheard of.

but it was required for the BSN program I am in. Like you I really didnt want to take it. It turned out not to be the monster I thought it was. Good luck to you.

Even the ADN school I attended required chemistry before A&P. I doubt you will be able to complete a BSN without it!

I didn't need it for my ADN. But I did need it for me BSN. I took during the summer and it was easy peasy lemon squeezy. Then again my instructor didn't want to be there either. :D

If you are a second degree applicant then it is definitely not required in NC. Both Duke and UNC do not require (or even recommend) it for their ABSN.

You should totally take Chemistry. It's awesome!

None of the programs I've looked into skip Chemistry. There is a little bit of Chemistry needed for A& P, so it is helpful. I really did not enjoy my chemistry class but made it through (even got an A). It's not really any harder than anything else, just SO NOT an area of interest to me. LOL.

Most programs that I know of require chemistry for the BSN. Some states even require it for the ADN. Chemistry isn't such a big bad monster. Like lisamc1, not my interest, but still got an A.

As a second degree student, I skipped Chem and a few other courses. Got my BSN no problem.

My program requires 3 sciences no matter what they are. I took Chemistry anyway and it was'nt as bad as I'd always thought. It actually improved my math conversion skills. Don't let Chem stop you from getting your degree. Good luck!!

So I guess the bigger question is, how many ABSN programs don't require Chemistry to be taken by itself

Which science pre-reqs did you take?
