Is nursing the hardest job you've ever had?

Hardest? What do you mean by hardest?

Physical demands? No, digging ditches in a 20ft hole in south georgia in the 100 degree heat was the most physcially demanding.

Mental challenges? No, running a 800 employee company with no time to make good decisions was harder.

Emotionally challenging? No, working in the executive suite where you know you have no friends and everyone is out to make you fail is more challenging.

Now which job have I had that was the most rewarding? Hands down, nursing. That is why I came back. Sure, the hours are long, the work demanding and the environment is not always great but at least you get quick little doses of satisfaction when you can help someone else. And a little satisfaction can go a long ways...

Nope. Spent a summer as a teenager mixing and pouring cement outdoors.

Nope. Two jobs were harder...archaeological digs in 3rd world countries where I spent 8-10 hours a day sweating and sifting through dirt and being in the military where I spent months on end living and working and eating and peeing and sleeping in a tent. At least as a nurse I get to pee in a toilet and go home to my family every night:D.

Yes. I worked in a skilled technical occupation before becoming a nurse, and it was difficult and stressful at times. When I became a CNA in order to get into nursing school, I thought that was hard, and I did LTC, home health, and acute care. But nothing in my background has prepared me for being a nurse.

NO. My most difficult job was my three day career at age 16 as the fry cook at the Dairy Queen. I quit after three days. I already knew I wanted to go to college but this really cemented that decision for me.
