I see a lot of people on here talking about taking the NET test. I just wanted to know if it is the test that asks questions on English and math, like basic algebra, decimals, percentages etc.

You might be confusing it with the assessment test you take upon first entering college. :)

CRNA: I've taken the NET, and your description of it is pretty close. It is a standardized national test, so the test is the same everywhere. The only exception is that some schools will tack on an essay-type test to the English portion. ERI is the company that writes the test and produces the study guide - I don't have their web address, but you might want to google it for more info. Hope that helps.

It's EriWorld.com
Our school didn't have the essay question. It was all computerized.
The NET's math portion consists of basic math & basic algebra, and the reading is main idea, purpose of the author, etc. (not punctuation, spelling, etc.)
I agree with NewStu. It is a national test, and when I got my results (same day), it also gave a national percentage ranking.

For those that have taken the NET how did you prepare? I'm good at reading, comprehension, english, but my math is that great. Do you think a pre-algebra refresher would be wise to take?
Personally I only used the NET study guide and reinforced my math skills with http://www.math.com, looking on that website for extra math problems similar to the study guide practice problems. That way I studied for the NET test in the format in which the test was presented. The study guide practice tests are so similar to the actual test it was unreal. Some of the actual test questions (for math) were used in the study guide.
My way of looking at it is this: I didn't want to confuse myself with any other preparation that might not be on point with the test I was taking. Others are free to disagree, but it worked for me.
Good luck - hope you end up in the 99 percentile! - NewStu
I only used the Net Study Guide.
I actually bought mine off of Ebay, but like I posted earlier, it is published by EriWorld.com.
The NET has basic algebra. If you purchase, read, and work the problems in the study guide, you will not need to do extensive math studying. It has tutorials over the math problems.
The same goes for the reading portion.
The hardest thing about the NET is that you have to watch the time spent on each question.

I just found out I absolutely have to take this in about 2 weeks... and I was wondering, for the english portion... are there vocab questions?
I ordered the eriworld study guide but won't get it for a few days. =(

I don't think there is vocab if I remember correctly.
It is basically main idea, purpose of the author, etc. It tests your critical thinking skills.
Good luck! :)

No essay here and nothing was on computer. Luckily, my school doesn't use this as an admissions test -- only to see where you are. I'm proof you can do horrible on the NET but still make it okay in school. :)

Great website! I just printed out some of the math problems (the algebra ones..such a good source for takes you make up on your own..and they give you an answer key!) and I plan on working on it tonight. Just want to brush up my math skills!
