Hi, all!
I'm 31 and it will take me 3,5 years to become RN. So i'll be 34,5 when i graduate. Will I be one of the oldest new grads? At that age..new grad and.......... no RN experience?
the majority of my graduating class was at least 28 or older, there were about 4 of my classmates that were in thier mid to late 40s, we only had one classmate that was recently out of high school, she was in the minority and the majority was the older students.
If you do a search on here about older students you will come across a lot of postings some of which I seen someone close to 60 going to school, it is never to late to get an education.
Oh my goodness. I can't believe that you asked that question. I am 51, I am an LVN, just got my license two months ago. I was in the automobile business in my first career. I changed careers in 2008. Where I was a CNA, worked with registry while going to nursing school. Please, no you are not too old. Whether or not you are able to handle the changes and the stress is another story.
I was finished with my ADN program at the age of 48.ANd let me tell you , I did not regret it. I had the advantage that when I entered a patient's room, patients automatically trusted me and felt comfortable just because they thought I had been a nurse for many years. Age in this case , can really be helpful, and life experience definitely counts.
I started back to school at the age of 50, had my LPN at the age of 52. I was one of two 50 y/o's in my LPN clinical class; the two of us had the highest grades in the class. We never felt "old" or "out of place", rather we were looked up to for our wisdom that comes with life experience.
I turn 54 this week, have all my prerequisites for RN done and plan to bridge next summer. Education is a lifelong process. You're NEVER too old to learn.
I am 29...just got accepted to the ADN program..I will be 31 when I graduate in May of 2012..and will have a 13 year old son! EEK. If you're old then it sounds like we will be the majority in our NS days not the minority. Go for it lady if thats what you want to do! PS...my mother is 50 and has just started back to school as well! Good luck!

It's not Logan's Run, it's Nursing - they don't shoot you after you turn 30. (I probably should be shot for making a Logan's Run reference).
